Teen Living Objective 11.02

Before buying a new garment try it on to judge fit and appearance

One of the most important things to do when trying on a garment is to stretch, sit down, and bend over while wearing the garment

Durability of a garment is determined by the quality of construction and fabric used

Natural – made from plants or animals

Man-made- created by using chemicals in a laboratory

Blends- mixing different types of fibers together, often combining natural & man-made into one fabric

Fiber from plant and animal sources:cottonsilkwool

Silk fibers are produced by a worm!

Wool is sheared from a sheep & spun into fibers

Cotton comes from the cotton plant

In general, synthetic fibers are created by forcing fiber forming chemicals through holes into the air, forming a thread.

Nylon Polyester Rayon Acrylic

Blended fiber - two or more different types of staple fibers are twisted or spun together to form the yarn for the fabric
