‘Teens’ episode 1 review This documentary episode focused on multiple types of teenage stereotypes and produced an unusual countertype. The main stereotypes that were presented in this documentary were teenagers rebelling against their parents and finding them oppressive or annoying. Whilst interviewing and recording the girls the main stereotype was that all boys are promiscuous and are pressured by other boys to loose their virginity. The use of large subtext on screen to present text messages presented social media as another major stereotype for teenagers. One major stereotype for teenage girls was that they are over-dramatic, attention seeking and think that boys are dangerous. The countertype presented in this documentary episode is the relationship where two best friends both love a girl and are fighting over her but she doesn't really know what one to choose. They even go to the extent where they both take the girl out on a picnic at the same time to try and decide which boy is suitable for her. In conclusion this documentary episode highlights some of the key teenage stereotypes and problems with today's youths, whilst providing unusual countertypes to create an equilibrium.
