In certain occasions, the necessary applications in railway environments may appear implemented by means of various communications systems that are not integrated among themselves. This situation, in addition to creating problems for effective coordination and integration, can also mean significantly greater associated investment and maintenance costs.

To address this, the multitechnology and multiservice solution offered by Teltronic unifies all communications into a single system, and consequentially, optimizes the operational costs and maximizes the return on investment as well.

  • Public transport systems require reliable and efficient communications networks that provide voice services and that satisfy the growing demand for data transmission. Teltronic answers this requirement through a portfolio of convergent radio communications solutions that combine TETRA technology, the dominant standard for mission-critical professional radio communication, with LTE for broadband support for massive data applications, complying with the availability parameters and security requirements such as needed for passenger and freight rail scenarios.

According to the requirements for each Project, the Teltronic eNEBULA infrastructure can be deployed with capacity for TETRA, LTE-R (LTE version for transport), or in convergent hybrid mode. The LTE-R version is compatible with various applications utilized in transport systems such as data transmission for railway signaling, real-time mobile video, remote connection with Passenger information systems, planning management, or Internet access for passengers, among others.

Furthermore, the Teltronic LTE-R solution incorporates the latest innovations introduced such as standardized mission-critical 3GPP services including MC PTT, MC Data, and MC Video.

  • CONTINUOUS DATA COMMUNICATION FOR SIGNALING SYSTEMSRailway signaling systems make use of wireless communication networks which facilitate the train-to-ground transmission of vital data containing information related to control, driving and operation of trains and therefore also related to passenger safety.

Based on ample experience in the transport communications sector, Teltronic offers its radio solutions for railway signaling environment. The company offers communications solutions based on TETRA and LTE technologies, which have proven their efficiency as alternatives to other radio systems used to

date for signaling data transmission. The Teltronic solution for these scenarios consists of RTP-S onboard equipment, as well as eNEBULA TETRA and LTE infrastructure, complying with the technical requirements for availability, security, and ease of maintenance for proper end-to-end operation of signaling systems.

  • > ERTMS (European Railway Traffic Management System) Level 2 is used in conventional and high-speed lines in Europe and throughout much of the world, employing the ETCS protocol. Its purpose is to facilitate interoperability for cross-border railway traffic, and it is expected in the near future that ERTMS - Level 3 will be almost exclusively radio-based. The radio solutions provided by Teltronic comply with the EIRENE (European Integrated Radio Enhanced Network) specifications, and Teltronic has successfully integrated TETRA with ETCS, and its LTE-R solution is prepared for the future ERTMS version .

    > Long haul passenger and freight trains tend to employ Positive Train Control (PTC) signaling. This consists of a system designed to prevent in a flexible manner the occurrence of certain critical situations such as accidents or derailments dues to excessive speed. For these types of trains, which even may habitually pass through inhospitable terrain, Teltronic offers outdoor network equipment for easy installation and maintenance. Teltronic has a number of accredited references of TETRA integration for these types of environments.

    > For mass transit environments, such as metros, or even Automatic People Movers (APM), the most commonly used signaling application is Communications-Based Train Control (CBTC) incorporating Automatic Train Protection (ATP) systems. Teltronic’s eNEBULA system allows transmitting CBTC data over a single, combined TETRA and LTE infrastructure, or exclusively LTE, which enables wideband data capacity to support not only the signaling application, but also other services requiring a high data transmission rate.

INTEGRATION WITH THE MOST USED RAILWAY SIGNALING SYSTEMS

  • INTEGRATION WITH CCTV AND MOBILE VIDEO

One of the key needs of new transportation systems is the capacity to transmit and receive video in real time in order to have the maximum amount of information available for remote decision making from the control center.

The real time video captured by cameras on railway platforms, in stations, onboard trains, or even from terminals carried by onboard personnel can be passed to the control center by mission-critical radio solutions using LTE technology, contributing to increased passenger safety. These solutions are integrated with voice communication over TETRA, complementing the system and providing a greater degree of security.

The simultaneous use of radio and video systems allows for optimization of operations and infrastructure maintenance, resulting in savings in time and in costs in the resolution of problems.

Teltronic’s solutions allow viewing video from fixed cameras (at stations, on platforms, etc.) and mobile cameras (in vehicles, handheld LTE terminals, etc.) by CeCo-TRANS dispatchers or even in the driver cabins with the RCC-3000 console.
