This is a true story…
(inspired by a work of fiction)
BRING
ON THE
BOOKS!
Once upon a time, there was a fine, fine school…
with fine, fine students, fine, fine teachers
and a fine, fine library.
But they dreamed of making the library even better.
Mr. Walters overheard one eager reader say, “I wish we had more
money for more books.”
Sometimes wishes come true.
One day, Mr. Walters got a phone call from a nice lady named Mrs. Simpson. She worked for Telus. She was
involved in the Telus Books for Schools program.
Mrs. Simpson said, “We would like to give you money for more books for your fine, fine school.”
Mr. Walters politely asked, “How much money?”
Mrs. Simpson’s answer surprised him.
“$1,500.00
for new library books!”
To make sure the books would be great reads for kids, classes talked about the kinds of new books they wished to have.

• Graphic novels• Funny books• Nonfiction• Mythology• Justin Bieber
• One student from each class received $100.00 to spend on new books for the school library.
On March 9, the group went to Kidsbooks in Vancouver to SPEND the money on books for our library!
They heard about the NEWEST and HOTTEST books.
They shopped,…
and shopped,…
and shopped!
They discovered AMAZING new books!
They bought 142 new books.
They couldn’t wait to start reading!
They LOVED the new books!
And the fine, fine students…
read…
and read…
happily…
ever…
after!
