There are present tense forms in English: I play I am playing I
do play ich spiele Remember that verbs must match their subject in
German and change ending accordingly. Many German verbs follow a
similar pattern in the present tense to do this. These verbs are
called weak (regular) verbs.

the action) in the present tense. For the present tense of weak
(regular) verbs, you take off the -en/n of the infinitive (full
verb) and add these endings to the stem to match the persons:
spielenspiel ich spiel e du spiel st er/sie/es spiel t wir spiel en
ihr spiel t Sie spiel en sie spiel en + Make notes and try to learn

How to make the verb match the subject (person or thing doing
the action) in the present tense. For the present tense of strong
(irregular) verbs, you take off the -en/n of the infinitive (full
verb) and add the same endings to the stem to match the persons as
for weak verbs. However, there may be a sound change in the du
(second person singular) and er/sie/es (third person singular)
forms. fahrenfahr ich fahr e du f hr st er/sie/es f hr t wir fahr
en ihr fahr t Sie fahr en sie fahr en + Make notes and try to learn
these patterns.
