TENTATIVE MINUTES Hendry County School Board Workshop Session Tuesday, May 24, 2016 The Hendry County School Board met in Workshop Session beginning at 4:34 p.m. in the School Board Meeting Room, Hendry Co. Courthouse, 2nd Fl., 25 E. Hickpochee, LaBelle, FL. Those in attendance were: Sally Berg, Chairman; Jon Basquin, Vice Chairman; Dwayne Brown, John Benkert and Stephanie Busin, Members; Paul K. Puletti, Superintendent; and Michael R. McKinley, School Board Attorney. Chairman Berg opened the workshop and Superintendent Puletti announced that this workshop was scheduled to discuss the School Board Policy Update. Mr. Tom Young, Esq. and Frances St. James, Neola Representatives, were present. Mr. Young and Mrs. St. James presented the final policies and Edgar policies (Neola special update to be in compliance with federal law) that District staff had completed and answered questions posed by Board Members. Mrs. St. James indicated that once the policies were cleaned she would send a link to the IT Department so the policies can be advertised. Once the advertisement period has expired, the Board will hold a hearing to adopt the policies en masse and rescind the current policies en masse. The Hendry County School Board met in Workshop Session beginning at 4:34 p.m. in theSchool Board Meeting Room, Hendry Co. Courthouse, 2nd Fl., 25 E. Hickpochee, LaBelle, FL.Those in attendance were: Sally Berg, Chairman; Jon Basquin, Vice Chairman; Dwayne Brown,John Benkert and Stephanie Busin, Members; Paul K. Puletti, Superintendent; and Michael R.McKinley, School Board Attorney.

Chairman Berg opened the workshop and Superintendent Puletti announced that this workshopwas scheduled to discuss the School Board Policy Update. Mr. Tom Young, Esq. and FrancesSt. James, Neola Representatives, were present.

Mr. Young and Mrs. St. James presented the final policies and Edgar policies (Neola specialupdate to be in compliance with federal law) that District staff had completed and answeredquestions posed by Board Members. The Hendry County School Board met in Regular Session beginning at 5:30 p.m. in the School BoardMeeting Room, Hendry Co. Courthouse, 2nd Fl., 25 E. Hickpochee, LaBelle, FL. Those in attendancewere: Sally Berg, Chairman; Jon Basquin, Vice Chairman; John Benkert, Dwayne E. Brown andStephanie Busin, Members; Paul K. Puletti, Superintendent; and Michael R. McKinley, School BoardAttorney.

The meeting was called to order by Chairman Berg.

Pledge & Invocation — Chairman Berg led the Board and guests in the Lord's Prayer and the Salute tothe U. S. Flag.

Moment of Silence - In Memory of Fred Dyess Sr. and Robert Lipford - Superintendent Pulettirequested that a moment of silence be observed in memory of the following past employees:

Fred Dyess, Sr. – School Board Member (11/16/1982 – 8/1/1989)Robert Lipford – LaBelle Transportation Area Foreman (1982 – 2010)

1. 2016-17 Bus Routes - On motion by Jon Basquin and second by Dwayne E. Brown, the Boardunanimously approved the 2016-17 Bus Routes as recommended by Superintendent Puletti.(See Superintendent’s File)

2. HESPA Collective Bargaining Agreement 2015-16 - 2016-17 - On motion by Dwayne E.Brown and second by Jon Basquin, the Board unanimously accepted the recommendation ofSuperintendent Puletti to approve the HESPA Collective Bargaining Agreement 2015-16 -2016-17 as presented and that $404,232.00 be transferred from the Committed Fund Balance tothe General Fund Salaries & Benefits account to cover the cost of the increased salaries.

Mr. Richard West, HESPA Representative, announced that the contract was approved with a99% vote. (See Superintendent’s File)

3. 2016-17 Salary Schedules - On motion by Dwayne E. Brown and second by Stephanie Busin,the Board unanimously accepted the recommendation of the Superintendent that the 2015-16Salary Increases and 2016-17 Salary Schedules be approved en masse. (See Superintendent'sFile)

4. Superintendent Puletti reported to Board Members regarding the recent DOJ visit relating to thedesegregation order. He stated that the district should receive a response in 4-5 weeks.

5. Superintendent Puletti asked if Board Members had any questions regarding the draft Ground LeaseAgreement with Central County Water Control District to start a PreK class in Montura. After Mr.Puletti responded to questions, he indicated that the agreement will be forwarded to the CentralCounty Water Control District.
