‣ Conceptual model: What is it?
‣ Goal Attainment: Patient and nurse mutually set to goal.
‣ Focus is of the patient within three systems

‣ Humans are in a constant state of interaction within their society and environment.

‣ The nursing process, interventions, reassessment, and goal attainment relates to an empirical approach.
‣ “Credibility is based on the outcome of nursing care.”

‣ Environment: Acute Pediatric Unit
‣ Adolescent patient (Example: Diagnosis of new onset type 1 Diabetes).
‣ 10 major concepts identified by King for goal attainment and success.
‣ Personal system: Assessment of both clinical and mental perception.
‣ Interpersonal system: Patient must have a positive experience and relationship with the nurse for
successful goal attainment.
‣ Social system: family, friends, social environment. Status held within the environment of classmates.
