Preparing for Next Sunday Fourth Sunday of Advent

Today’s reading from the Second Book of Samuel tells of God’s promise to David that his kingdom will endure forever. Saint Paul ends his Letter to the Romans with a doxology praising God through Jesus Christ. Saint Luke’s Gospel describes the announcement of the birth of Jesus and recounts how Mary says yes to God’s plan for her and the world.

Faith Formation News Classes resume on Wednesday, January 8, 2015. The Faith Formation Catechist will host the Posada on Wednesday, December 17th. All students and Parents are invited.

OLMC School News

Breakfast with St. Nick OLMC PTO sponsored its annual fund raiser - Breakfast with St. Nick to much of the delight of the community. Preparations began with parent volunteers on Friday decorating the Parish Hall with traditional Christmas ornaments - a festive mood inviting of the Christmas spirit. On Saturday morning, the breakfast began with volunteers arriving at 6 : 3 0 A M t o b e g i n t h e preparations. The menu items consisted of: pancakes, sausage, and eggs. And not to be outdone in the cultural diversity of the event, a giant pot of "Menudo" (a traditional Mexican breakfast item) was enjoyed as being a part of the menu as well. "The kids got real excited when St. Nicholas arrived to the breakfast," said Mrs. Catherine Smith, President of the PTO, "we're grateful to Mr. Mike Martin, Cristo Rey College Prep., who was willing to play the part." According to Mrs. Smith, there wasn't as much of a turn out as times past, but it was still a good event. "The weather has been a little warmer than compared to previous years; when the weather has been a little colder we tend to have had larger turn outs. But the kids enjoyed it and for us, this is what it's all about." The breakfast ended a little earlier than previous years, and the fund raiser was considered a success. Mrs. Smith, PTO President, along with O L M C S c h o o l would like to thank the community, all the volunteers who worked in putting this event together. She would also like to recognize the special efforts of: Mrs. Tina Rambo and Mrs. Cheryl Mire, in helping to coordinate this event. God bless you and Merry Christmas!

Noticias de la Escuela OLMC

Desayuno con San Nicolás El PTO de la escuela NSMC organizó la recaudación anual de fondos - Desayuno con San Nicolás como parte de la gran alegría que manifiesta nuestra comunidad. Los preparativos comenzaron con los padres voluntarios el día Viernes cuando decoraron el salón parroquial con adornos Navideños tradicionales – tuvimos un acogedor ambiente festivo en el espíritu de la Navidad. El sábado por la mañana, el desayuno se inició con los voluntarios que llegaron desde las 6:30 AM para comenzar los preparativos. El menú consistió en: panqueques, salchichas y huevos. Y para no quedarse atrás en cuanto a la diversidad cultural del evento, se compartió una olla gigante de "Menudo" (desayuno tradicional mexicano) también como parte del menú.

"Los niños se pusieron muy felices cuando San Nicolás llegó al desayuno", dijo la señora Catalina Smith, Presidente del PTO, dijo "estamos muy agradecidos con el Sr. Mike Martin, de la preparatoria Cristo Rey, que estaba dispuesto a hacer su parte". Según la señora Smith, no fue como en el pasado, pero aún así fue un acontecimiento increíble". El clima ha sido un poco más cálido este año en comparación con años anteriores, y aunque en esos años el clima había estado un poco más frío tuvimos mejor asistencia de niños, sin embargo, los niños disfrutaron de la celebración y para nosotros, esto es lo más importante".

El desayuno terminó un poco antes que en años anteriores, pero la recaudación de fondos fue considerada como un éxito. La Sra. Smith, presidente del PTO, junto con la Escuela NSMC quisieran agradecer a toda la comunidad, y a todos los voluntarios que trabajaron en la

organización de este evento. También quisieran dar un reconocimiento a los esfuerzos especiales de: La Sra. Tina Rambo y la Sra. Cheryl Mire, por su colaboración en la coordinación de este evento. Dios los bendiga a todos y Feliz Navidad!
