Principal’s Report
Yoga - As we come to the end of our Yoga program, family day was
enjoyed by many parents learning techniques to breath and be in the
moment. Next Term we will be participating in a dance program for all
students to participate in in preparation for our 40th Anniversary
celebration early in Term 3.
Term 1 Reporting - In Week 11 your child will be bringing
home a Student Learning Profile Report. The purpose of
this report is to give you an indication on how your child is
engaging in learning at school. It reports on attitude,
work habits and their behavior. We see it as a positive
start to the year. If you have any concerns, please
contact your child’s teacher.
Congratulations to our Senior and Junior choirs who headed off to their
first rehearsals this week. They displayed their BBPS positive behavior and
sang up a storm with enthusiasm.
Principal Conference - Last week I had the opportunity to attend our
network of schools Principals conference with my local colleagues in
Wollongong. We enjoyed collegial discussions and collaborative
workshops on how we can build positive school cultures and give our
students positive mindsets for their future. Dan Haesler and also Glen
Gerreyn from the Hopefull Institute spoke passionately on the importance
of Wellbeing and how we can navigate positively the complexity of
contemporary society to benefit our students. I am looking forward in
sharing this with our staff.
Stage 3 Camp - Bags are packed, excitement is growing! We wish all
Stage 3 a fun filled camp making great memories with their friends. Don’t
forget to look after the teachers Stage 3! ENJOY!
ANZAC DAY Ceremony - Next Wednesday we will be holding our ANZAC
day ceremony in the hall at 9.20am. We welcome Mr Brad Copelin from
Engadine RSL as a guest speaker. A huge thank you to our wonderful
community with all the donations for our ANZAC care packages! We had
a fabulous response and will be sending off more than 15 packages to
soldiers overseas serving! Well done BBPS.
Easter Hat Parade - Start creating your hats, the day is approaching for
the grand parade! Our Easter Hat Parade is next Friday at 2.05pm in our
hall. Come join us in an afternoon of celebrations and fun!

School News
ANZAC Service
ANZAC Day, 25th April, is one of Australia’s most
important national occasions. It is part of the
tradition and history of our country. We shall
remember…
Public schools are encouraged to hold their
assembly service prior to the date. Since
ANZAC Day falls during the school holidays,
BBPS will honour this occasion at 9.20am, on
Wednesday 10th April, in our school hall.
We are delighted to have Mr Brad Copelin join
us to share some of his experiences with the
students, staff and families.
Community members
are welcome to join us
as we remember.

Get ready for The Big Vegie Crunch!
On Thursday 4th April at 10.30 am our school will
be joining hundreds of schools across NSW to
break the record for the most students crunch-
ing vegetables simultaneously.
But we need your help to make it a success!
On Thursday 4th April, please pack your child a
container of vegetables (not fruit this time) for
them to crunch on.
Need some ideas?
carrot, celery, cucumber – cut into sticks or
left whole
capsicum – cut into sticks or wedges
corn – raw baby corn spears or a cooked
corn cob
broccoli or cauliflower florets - raw or lightly
cooked to keep their crunch
tomatoes – small cherry tomatoes or a large
tomato that can be eaten like an apple
beans or snow peas - raw or lightly cooked
to keep their crunch
mushrooms – sliced or
left whole

Mona Williams Performance
During Harmony Week
students were privileged to
spend the afternoon with
world renowned storyteller
Mona Williams.
Mona brought her stories to life
with her dramatic and vibrant
performance on Wednesday
afternoon in the hall. Students
were engaged, entranced and enthralled by
Mona’s energy. Her empathetic stories that she
told, not only promoted inclusion but also
tolerance and respect.
At the end of the performance, BBPS students
and teachers happily danced out of the hall in
a Congo line to some groovy African music
with Mona.

ANZAC Care Packages
Well done Bonnet Bay! Thanks to all of your
donations of goodies and treats, we have
made 15 care packages to send to Australian
servicemen and women stationed all over the
world in time for ANZAC
day. We are fortunate to
come to school each day
and be surrounded by such
generous and caring
families!
POINTS FOR PURPOSE Cake Stall
Fundraiser
A cake stall is always a huge hit at Bonnet Bay!
Stage 3 baked up a storm for a very special
fundraising initiative to support those experienc-
ing homelessness. With the proceeds of the
cake stall ($481.35) we will
be purchasing backpack
beds for those in need. If

Fathering Project 2019
It was fantastic to see some new and not-so-
new faces at the first BBPS Fathering Project
event of the year. Dads enjoyed a meal
together and chatted about how great it is to
be a father. If you are interested in becoming
a champion dad and helping out with organis-
ing and running Fathering Project events in
2019 please let me
know.

PSSA Term 1
In PSSA this season our teams competed in
touch football, softball and t-ball. Sadly mother
nature and some heavy rainfall impacted our
play as the girls touch footy only played 3
games and the boys softball and T-Ball played
4. In spite of this, the students kept their spirits
high and showed great improved in skills over a
short amount of time. When playing against
other schools, they consistently upheld our
school values and should be very proud of their
efforts!
In Term 2, PSSA soccer and netball starts in
Week 1. If your child was selected for these
teams, notes need to be back ASAP!
For next season, finger’s crossed the rain stays
away…

P&C Report
It has been exciting to see some of the 5/6
students using the P&C funded Lego we-do kits
in a video they have created . I am proud of
the hard work of the P&C to fund such great
resources for our kids. Thank you to everyone
who has already volunteered their time this
term to help with one of our many activities.
We have now banked the money from Election
Day and are keen to know what
exciting resources it will fund.
Thanks

Stewart House Clothing Appeal Reminder - Donated clothing must be left at
school by tomorrow Wednesday 3rd April.
NSW Department of Education Charity of
Choice Stewart House has been working in
partnership with The Smith Family for more
than 50 years. The recycling operation helps
schools in NSW run clothing drives to collect
good quality clothes and accessories for
resale or export in Smith Family stores. School
clothing drives are an important source of
good quality new and near-new clothing,
helping to keep our stock levels high.
Donated clothing must be left at school by
Wednesday 3rd April 2019.
