Welcome to all our returning families and to those families commencing at Parkes East. We have many exciting activities in the pipeline for 2020. I know our school will again receive amazing support from our parent community. We have Miss Bec Kiley and Miss Casey Patton starting as staff members this year. I know, in typical Parkes East fashion, that they will be made to feel welcome as they join our “family”. May your week be full of joy! SAFE ENTRY AND EXITING THE SCHOOL When entering and exing the school, parents/carers and students are to use the entry and exit points on Thornbury Street and the gate next to the staff car park on the Wellington Road. The staff carpark is out of bounds for all pedestrians, especially students, and the bus shelter gate is only to be used by those students travelling home by bus. Your help in abiding by these measures is greatly appreciated. NO PARKING ZONES A reminder to parents and carers: It is illegal to park or stop in this zone for longer than 2 minutes. You must be within 3 metres of your vehicle at all mes. The fine for disobeying these rules is $183 and 2 demerit points. PARKES AUSTRLIA DAY AWARDS Congratulaons to Mrs Maureen Massey on her award of Parkes Senior Sports Person of the Year and the Parkes Boppers (a dance troupe consisng mainly of current and former Parkes East students) for the Cultural Award. Congratulaons also to Henry Kross who received a Ron Harrison Sports Bursary Award for squash. The Parkes East fete was nominated for Community Event of the Year, which was an acknowledgement of our amazing P&C. This award was won by Pink Up Parkes which our school had supported. The annual Village Fair will be on Tuesday 17th December. Year 6 will be using all mon-ey raised to purchase their gift to the school. There will be drinks, food, a white elephant stall, games and activities on offer. Prices range from 50c to $4. Donations for white elephant stall to 5/6R classroom please.

ASTHMA PLANS

If your child suffers from asthma, please send an up-to-date copy of their Asthma Plan to the school office.

UNIFORM Boys Summer: Maroon polo shirt, grey shorts, grey socks and black shoes.

Girls Summer: Maroon check summer dress or maroon check skirt with maroon polo shirt, white socks and black shoes.

Sport: Maroon sports polo with navy shorts and white socks.

NOTE: There should be no brands or logos on socks or shorts.

CLASS EQUIPMENT REQUIREMENTS 2019

Years 3 to 6 Class teachers will send notes home about class equipment requirements this week, but general items required for Years 3 - 6 on a daily basis are:

Pencil case, pens (red, blue, black), textas, coloured pencils, lead pencils, sharpener, glue stick and a ruler

Please remember that the following items are NOT allowed at school:

- Metal Rulers - Liquid paper - Cutting Blades - Textas in K-2

FOOD ALLERGIES - REMINDER

To ensure the safety of all students we ask parents, teachers and students to maintain the protocols of:

Not sharing food (essential also for prevention of meningococcal).

Not exchanging food.

Not bringing the following items to school:

- Peanuts, peanut butter, products including peanut extract or oil - these include nutella, muesli bars, satay, various sweets, chocolate and biscuits.

- Kiwi fruit

- Egg and whole egg products, eg egg sandwiches, pavlova or meringue.
