Dear Parents, Guardians and Care-givers, Queensland Health has worked closely with the Department of Education to consider a plan for students to return to school over the coming weeks. This plan has been developed with the safety of staff, students and school communities at the forefront of all considerations. The first stage of resumption at Macleay Island State School, commencing on 11 May 2020 will be for students in Prep and Year 1. The second stage of resumption at Macleay Island State School is planned for 25 May 2020 will be for all students Prep to Year 6. This planned return date will be confirmed by 15 May 2020. The implementation of a return to school in a staged way is to provide critical time for schools to develop and implement arrangements to ensure the transition can be made safely for everyone. The biggest risk of transmission of COVID-19 in schools is between adults, and we are required to follow the Term 2, 2020 Operating guidelines for Queensland state schools – effective 11 May 2020. All students enrolled in Years 2 to 6 at Macleay Island State School will continue learning at home arrangements until 25 May 2020. If there are any questions relating to this transition back to school-based learning please contact me via telephone or email. Yours sincerely
GLENDA SEAWRIGHT Principal

In these unprecedented times we’re all being asked to change the way we work and live. Our tradition
of putting books into the hands of kids isn’t going to change, but for Term 2, we're doing things a little
differently.
We ask that you continue to work with us to maintain our unique distribution
partnership with schools. This means we can keep on putting traditional delivery
costs back into offering the best prices and the best selection of books!
P and C Fundraiser Online Mother’s Day Stall – Orders due in by Thursday 7 May 2020 We didn’t want kids to miss the chance to buy a special gift for their Mum, Step Mum or Grandmother during these difficult times. We can’t hold our regular Mother’s Day stall so have put together a range of gift bags that can be ordered and paid for via bank transfer to be delivered before Mother’s Day. Please show these options to your child if this appeals to you. Each gift comes with a bag and card (either full colour or one your child can colour in themselves). There are limited numbers of each gift bag available, so please contact me via Facebook messenger or email [email protected] as soon as you know your selection and any preference of colour/style etc so I can hold that for you until payment is made. It would be good if your child could have a second and third choice in mind in case their first choice is not available. Once I have confirmed your order is being held, payment needs to be made directly to the P and C bank account. The details are: Account Name – Macleay Island State School P & C BSB – 084-129 Account number – 30-137-0902 Thank you for your support. Hopefully your children will find something nice here for all the hardworking Mum’s out there! Please keep an eye on the P and C Facebook page for updates on available stock. I acknowledge the Quandamooka people, the Aboriginal owners of the land where Macleay Island State School now stands and pay respects to Elders past, present and emerging. I recognise their connection to Country and their role in caring for and maintaining Country over thousands of years. May their strength and wisdom be with us today.
