SCHOOL NEWS FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Welcome to term 3, with this term comes the wet weather and cold days, and our usual busy demands of class and out of class activities. We have the following events planned; science field trips, speech competitions, fitness and cross country events, Body Jam and discovery time to name a few. The term has started with the reorganisation of the Junior school with a year 1 class in Room 8, being taught by Mrs Anne Lugtigheid. Also returning to our staff is Mrs Heather Foster, she will be doing some management release days. Our theme this term continues with Natural New Zealand. The students will also be learning about the Olympic Games. Co-operation is the school value that we will be focusing on and the key competency of relating to others. If you have any ideas, or want to help or find out about your child’s education please come in and have a talk with me. Check out the school term calendar on the back of this newsletter or the website www.dargavilleprimary.school.nz
LIFE EDUCATION
LEARNING WITH HAROLD This week the Life Education Road Show is at DPS. It comes with a special teacher who has teaching sessions with each class, covering health topics. These range from relationships with people, body systems functions, what we eat and how we think? The cost to each student is $3, please give this to your class teacher.
SCHOOL UNIFORM We have all sizes of Tee Shirts and polar fleeces in stock and also a few second hand polar fleeces. We expect the uniform to be worn every day, that is black shorts, track pants, skirts or leggings and the school tee shirt and polar fleece. The Kids Can jackets are also an acceptable item of clothing that can be worn. The wearing of camouflage or sport team jackets are not part of the uniform and students will be requested to do detention for wearing these after warnings. Please ensure all clothing is named from head to toe, as it is disappointing to see the large box of unnamed lost property.
SCHOOL ASSEMBLIES We have made changes, we are no longer having assemblies on Monday mornings, instead we are now having; on odd weeks (weeks 1,3, 5 …) syndicate assemblies. Juniors on Thursday at 1:30pm, Middles on Friday at 12:15pm and Seniors on Friday at 11:30am. On the even weeks of the term, (weeks 2,4,…) the whole school will have assembly on Friday at 11:30am.
Senior students with their certificates awarded at assembly. Well done!
