Principal’s Message -
School Plan—2021-2024
As mentioned last newsletter, I am in the process of attending professional learning to develop Walhallow Public School ’s 2021-2024
School Plan.
As part of this plan staff and I are currently working on a Situational Analysis that describes the School’s Vision Statement and School
Context.
Normally I would take these statements, that have been developed by students and staff, to be reviewed at our P and C Meeting. As P
and C Meetings are on hold at the moment, we are showing the community via our newsletter and are seeking any feedback on these
statements and descriptions. Last newsletter our focus was on the School’s Vision Statement; this newsletter, our focus is on the
School Context — Please read below —
Walhallow Public School has 100% Aboriginal enrolment. It is located thirty kilometres from the towns of Werris Creek and Quirindi. The school currently has twenty three enrolled students with on-coming students attending the school based pre-school and playgroup, Yuluwirri. The school is located within an Aboriginal community, on Kamilaroi land. Our parents are interested in their children's schooling and interact with our school freely. We work together under the adage that "it takes a community to raise a child." The students and families are very proud of their Aboriginal heritage, and are excited to have a strong culture program as part of their children's education. The school has high expectations of our students, providing opportunities for them to be engaged, self-regulated and future
focused learners.
Please feel free to contact the school if you have any feedback for us.
Visiting programs to Walhallow PS this week
We have had a busy week with Life Education and the Red Cross visiting us this week. The students had lots of fun exploring the
PDHPE syllabus in an interesting way.
Our Athletics Carnival on Wednesday was exciting with the students participating in shot put, discus, javelin, long jump, races and
relays. Thank you Sam for coordinating this event. Results will be published next newsletter.
Photos on Friday 28/8/20
Just a reminder that students will be having their photos taken tomorrow. Students are to wear their
Walhallow designed shirts with maroon bottoms and black shoes.
Thank you for your cooperation
I’d like to take this opportunity to thank the students and the community for following the State’s Covid-19
guidelines and understanding that we are doing the best we can to navigate these unprecedented times.

In Art with Mrs Ballard we have started to learn about printmaking. Using a foam plate students created illustrations of their home and explored the process of printmaking to create multiple images that represent their experiences. Thank you Mrs Ballard for this fabulous experience.
We have been practising hard for the sports carnival and I have seen some very talented runners and long jumpers. I am looking forward to seeing the results. In Literacy lessons we have been writing some great sentences. The students are really embracing our Interactive Writing sessions and have come up with some excellent sentences. They are all starting to create their own independently which is so great to see. In Mathematics we have been looking at three digit numbers and working with one, tens and hundreds.
