Relieving Principal’s message
Well, what a busy journey we are embarking on as we approach
the end of Term 3. Students are very busy doing their public
speaking and preparing for adjudication next week. Please keep
Monday 19th September free for the final. The level of confidence I
have heard in the students of Huskisson PS as they have
presented their practise speeches, has been impressive to say the
least. Teachers have worked hard to prepare students on the
topics and guided the students in the presentation of their
speeches.
DOLPHIN WATCH CRUISE
Please do not forget our school Dolphin Watch cruise on Tuesday
next week. Students will have the opportunity to see our beautiful
bay and marine life in all its glory. Thanks to the generosity of
Dolphin Watch, our children are able to enjoy this experience at a
discounted fee. Please remember to bring in permission notes and
money prior to the day.
BLUE ROOM – COFFEE, CAKE AND CHAT
Finally, the official opening of our blue room is set to take place
tomorrow morning after the morning assembly. We invite parents
and friends to join us for a cuppa, something sweet and chat about
our lovely school. This is an initiative of the KidsMatter group and is
designed to get parents and friends to get to know each other even
better. During this time we will discuss the entries received for the
name of the new Blue Room. Students have been thinking hard
and have come up with some great responses for this.
NEW TEACHER
Today we were informed that due to growth in our school we are
able to temporarily employ another teacher. This is fantastic news
for our school and the new teacher will be shared amongst classes.
This person will support current teachers by team-teaching,
withdrawing small groups or by allowing the regular classroom
teacher to spend extra time with groups of students.
SCHOOL GROUNDS
Thank you to Otto and Coco’s mum, Michelle who has been
working to beautify the adventure playground. The grounds are
looking lovely as we head into the warmer weather. We are very
fortunate here at Huskisson to have many parents who care so
much about the school that they give up their own time to improve
the grounds.
Term 3 Week 8 8th September
I would just like to let parents and community members know
that parents are not able to drive onto school grounds at any
time as this causes a risk of harm to students in the play-
ground. Parents dropping students off and picking them up for
either school or before and after school care are asked to
park off site. Please also note that the neighbouring commu-
nity have asked us not to park on their lawn areas. The best
option is to use the NO STANDING zone in Watts Street to
drop off children without parking or to park at the Soccer
Fields and walk down. Thank you for your understanding on
this matter.
BUS SAFETY
Finally, I would like to remind all families about students
behaving in an appropriate manner whilst travelling on buses.
This week students were reminded of the “Code of Conduct
for students travelling on buses.” We are very happy to say
that our students’ conduct in almost all cases is great and that
the need for reminders like this are not necessary very often.
CHOIR
Congratulations to our wonderful choir for an awesome per-
formance in the Shoalhaven Public Schools Music Festival.
Your behaviour and performance was exemplary. The school
and local community are very proud of you. Thank you also to
Mrs Hansen, Mr Williams and Mrs Wilson who worked with
the students to prepare for this performance.
VOTE FOR MISS M
Miss M, a casual teacher from our school, is a finalist in the
Power FM Backyard Competition. Please vote for her on the
949 PowerFM website. Voting closes tomorrow afternoon and
a winner will be announced on Saturday.
