TERM 3
What an amazing term we have had here at Glossodia. The
students have been given so many opportunities!
During term 3 we have participated in Education Week
performances at Richmond Marketplace, District Athletics
carnivals, District Spelling Bee, Longneck Lagoon Enrichment
Program for Stage 2, NAIDOC Week activities, Book week
festivities, Footsteps dance, ICAS exams, Book Fair and
character parade, K-2 Sports Carnival, Fathers’ Day breakfast
and stall, S3 Bathurst Goldfields Excursion, Peer Support
Program, Festival Of Instrumental Music at the Opera House,
School Concert and Claymation for S3.
A special thank you to all the parents for their support with these
events. The students have been able to experience a variety of
activities. Thank you also to the teachers for organising these
extra curricular activities. No wonder we are all tired!!
SPRING HOLIDAYS
We wish all our families and friends a restful spring holiday.
Students and staff are returning to school Monday 14 October.
Our last day of term is Friday 27 September.
LAWRENCE HARGRAVES NUMERACY CHALLENGE
Congratulations to Alex, Kieran, Leeah, Hannah, Hayley and
Isabelle on their outstanding participation in the Lawrence
Hargrave Numeracy Challenge last week taking out 1st place.
DANCE GROUPS IN HAWKESBURY DANCE FESTIVAL
Congratulations to the Senior 5/6 and Junior 3/4 dance groups
who will be performing at the Hawkesbury Dance Festival on
Wednesday 23 October at Windsor Function Centre.
Your ticket order needs to be returned by the 20 September. At
this stage only one ticket per child performing is available.

HAWKESBURY WRITING COMPETITION
The Hawkesbury Young Writers Competition is currently underway for 2019.The topic is “The
Suitcase”. Classes have been writing their narratives these weeks to be judged and be
included in the Hawkesbury Learning Community’s finalists. Good luck to all our students.
The Young Writers’ Presentation will be at Hawkesbury High on Monday 28 October at 6pm.
PUBLIC SPEAKING
The primary students will be involved in writing and presenting their public speaking speeches
to their class during the last 2 weeks of school this term. Class winners will present to the 3-
6 classes early next term. The Stage winners will represent Glossodia at the District Semi
Finals at Freemans Reach PS on 31 October. A note has been sent home in regard to this.
SCHOOL CONCERT- A NIGHT AT THE OSCARS
The students will be presenting a night of entertainment for parents on Tuesday 24
September. Each class will be performing a dance based on the theme “A Night at the
Oscars”. A note for ticket sales has been sent home. If you will not be bringing your child for
the evening performance on 24 September, please let your classroom teacher know ASAP.
FREE DENTAL CLINIC
The Primary School Mobile Dental Program will take place at Glossodia PS on Thursday 26
and Friday 27 September. Parent information and consent packages have been sent home.
Each child is eligible to receive a dental examination, growth assessment and application of
topical fluoride varnish (depending on parents’ consent). Only students with parental
permission will be seen.
K-2 ASSEMBLY
The next K-2 assembly for the term will be on Wednesday 18 September. All parents and
friends are invited to join us at 2.30pm in the hall.
GOOD LUCK
Good luck to Reece who has been competing in the 2019 National Clubs Carnival in
Queensland in Gymnastics Free (parkour) this past weekend.
ICAS TESTS
The online ICAS tests are going to be run over the next couple of weeks. Students who are
participating will be sitting the tests in the staffroom with Mrs Dorahy.
STAFF CARPARK
For the safety of our students we ask that parents do not use our staff car park when
picking up their children.

A bag has been supplied to your child for the Stewart House Clothing Appeal. This is a perfect
time to sort through your wardrobes and pass on your unwanted clothing, blankets and linen.
Additional bags are available from the office.

Canteen Report:
Helen, Belinda and Melissa attended the NSW healthy canteen expo They have purchased some new ice blocks which are a huge hit with the students. Helen has been in contact with a Parmalat rep about getting milk delivered to the school. The change of days for canteen from Wednesday to Thursday continue to be positive with great sales that are equal to Friday. Thank you to Mrs Dorahy, there is now a new tap in the canteen sink. There will be a whole school special lunch order for the last day of term and there will also be quelch sticks for the whole school. School spectacular- Helen has arranged with Bec Haines to borrow her lolly cart for the day and will purchase lollies, chips, chocolates and drinks. Roz has arranged popcorn and fairy floss.

Fundraising Report:
Father’s day stall was great. Takings from the stall were $2011.40 Spring fair w3ill have its own committee Nights markets will be on the 30th Nov. Same night as carols under the cola Christmas raffle will go ahead, date to be advised.
General Business: A night at the Oscars will have a stall out the front during the matinee Roz and Belinda will run it and of the evening Helen and Sam

Principal’s Report September, 2019
FOOTSTEPS/CONCERT Footsteps lessons have begun. Will lead into our school concert – A Night At The Oscars. Tickets will be sold as usual due to complications to do online. Thanks to Paul Matthews for doing the sound and lighting again for the school at no charge. SPELLING BEES Congratulations to the 4 students going on to Regional Spelling Bee on Monday 9 September. MOBILE DENTAL PROGRAM We have booked 2 days for Primary School Mobile Dental Health Program- Thursday 26 and Friday 27 September. FATHERS DAY BREAKFAST Our fathers’ day breakfast was very well attended last Thursday. Great to see so many dads and grandpas here. DISTRICT CARNIVAL Field events went well. Track events tomorrow due to weather postponement. ICAS TESTS They will take place over next couple of weeks in staffroom with Mrs Dorahy FRONT GATES The School and Security officer for our area visited the school to do a risk assessment for the school on the need for electronic gates and discuss pros and cons. Written results to come. Permission from DoE required to change fencing. SHADE SHELTERS In the process of getting quotes for shade shelters – replacing the one over the handball courts and new one to cover new car track. Discussion
