RELIEVING PRINCIPAL’S REPORT
Thank you and congratulations
Thank you
to our
wonderful
students and
P & C for
their efforts
over the past
week, for
the Irish
Music
Festival.
Assisting
with setting
up, walking in the street parade, helping on stalls
and in many other ways during the festival shows
how much you value not only our school but our
community. The youth of today are our future, and
from what we saw on the weekend our students are
making positive contributions to our community’s
future.
I would also like to congratulate the Irish Festival
Committee on a wonderful festival and for bringing
fun, and funds, to our community.
This term is coming to an end very quickly and
there’s a lot packed into the 9 days before holidays.
Tomorrow is the SRC Afternoon, Thursday are
Parent-Teacher interviews, next week we have
secondary 4 T’s Gala day and our annual Cross
Country before our Market Day celebrations. Thank
you to all involved in organising these events.
Grandfriend’s Morning Tea and Assembly
It has been decided to hold this event early in term 2
as we will have our new principal then. The date for
this will be finalised this week, so please stay tuned
for further details in next week’s newsletter.
Enjoy the rest of your week.

NAPLAN
We have started working through past NAPLAN
papers in class. This is so that Year 3 can learn
about the format of the papers and how to answer
different questions. Year 4 have completed one
paper, a Language Conventions test as revision of
spelling, punctuation and grammar. These tests will
be sent home in the next couple of weeks, however,
they are not a true representation of what your child
will achieve in the actual tests, as your child has
done this test with a small group and the teacher.
Easter Egg Guessing Competition
Thank you to everyone who had a guess. Blake
McMahon guessed the winning number, 297! We
raised $200 towards our class excursion, which is a
great effort for only a small fundraiser.

Work Health & Safety – Shoes for Practical
Subjects
Students need to ensure that they have their hats and
boots for practical agriculture, along with boots for
any other practical subjects such as food tech and
industrial tech. They are also required for practical
science where chemicals and sharps are in use.
Please ensure that students have their enclosed
leather shoes either on their feet or stored at the
student pigeon holes so that students have them
when required.
Handling Study Stress
At times students, particularly those in the senior
years, will be under stress due to their study loads.
To assist students in coping with this stress
Headspace in Dubbo offers a free study stress
advisory line that students can either call or access
via the Headspace Dubbo Facebook page. The
Facebook page is
www.facebook.com/headspacedubbo and the
contact phone number for the centre is 0258521900
(between 9:00am – 5:00pm Monday – Tuesday,
9am – 6pm Wednesday, 9:00am – 7:00pm Thursday
and 9:00am – 2:00pm Fridays) This is a great
service offered for students and if they are feeling
stressed about their study load I encourage them to
give the Headspace centre a call.
Cattle Show Team Practice
Cattle Show Team Practice will re-commence Week
2 Term 2. Our Heifer Nellie is back on the road to
recovery after her illness and will be ready to start
re-learning her show manners. I will be meeting
with Team members this week to discuss times for
practice and will be sending home a survey for
parents to complete in terms of which times and
days suits people better, especially since daylight
savings has ended. These surveys will be due back
in Week 11.
Have a great week!
