Term 4 Week 6 16 November 2020

Dear Parents and Caregivers,

Last week we welcomed our Kinder 2021 students for their second orientation session at our school. This Wednesday 18th November, Mrs Sturgess and I will be holding a Kinder 2021 Information Session over Zoom at two different times for parents to join. The Zoom meetings are scheduled for 11am and 4.30pm and will include the same information so there is no need to attend both meetings. We will be answering any questions and look forward to meeting with our new parents and carers then.

Christmas Mufti Day

Tomorrow Tuesday 17th November, children are asked to wear mufti and bring a donation that will be added to the P&C Christmas Hamper Raffle. Tickets for the raffle will be sent home soon. The raffle will be during the last week of school on Monday 14th December.

Any donations are greatly appreciated. Any food items must be in date and non-perishable. These could include puddings, nuts, chocolates and chips. Other suggested items include Christmas decorations and bon bons.

Colour Fun Run

We are looking forward to holding our Colour Fun Run this Friday, in culmination of our Year 6 fundraising event. Thank you to everyone who has collected sponsors and raised money for the Year 6 Farewell and Year 6 Gift to the School. The amount is being finalised and will be announced soon, but the response to the fundraising has been phenomenal. Mrs Kay and Mr McNally have been busy organising a fun day for all students. Students need to have a white shirt if they wish to be squirted with coloured powder or a brightly coloured shirt if they would not like to have colour squirted on them. Please ensure a hat and covered shoes are worn on the day. A note was been sent home last Friday, outlining details of the day. All students are included in participating in the fun run, regardless if they have participated in the fundraising activity or not.

NAIDOC Week

We had an incredible week celebrating week celebrating NAIDOC week at Tuggerawong PS. All of the students actively enjoyed the many activities. A big thankyou to our dedicated staff who always give 100% to our students’ learning and who organised creative and meaningful learning experiences.

Enrolment in 2021

Teachers will soon begin the process of class formation for 2021. If your child will not be attending Tuggerawong PS in 2021 please let us know as soon as possible.

Class Requests 2021

Within the next few weeks teachers will start working on classes for 2021. Any parent with a request to have their child placed in a different class to another student should put their request in writing and leave it at the office (email is fine) and we will do our best to accommodate your wishes. These written requests should be at the office by Friday 27th November.

4/5C

We cannot believe we are starting Week 6 already! That means only 5 weeks to go and we are so excited about all the exciting things we have coming up.

On Friday we were lucky enough to sit in the Hall for the assembly as we won Toto the week before. Toto enjoyed sitting in our classroom and watching all the fun learning we experience.

Last Thursday we had our last gymnastics session. Over the 4 weeks we learnt about Parkour, Aerobics and got to jump on the trampolines.

We have started out athletics events last week with discus and shotput. All students displayed excellent sportsmanship skills and did their personal best. This week sees us completing our running events with the finals being held on Friday before the Colour Run.

As there is a lot of notes coming home for the exciting events we have planned, please ensure they are being returned ASAP.

Looking forward to the busy remaining weeks.

Wadalba Community School have a Transition Sports Day this Thursday, 19 November for those students enrolling in Year 7 in 2021. It is parents/carers responsibility to arrange transport to and from Wadalba Community School for your child/ren for this transition.

Students must enter via the gates off the Van Stappen Rd bus bay, walk directly to the top oval to meet by no later than 10.45am. Pick up is at 2pm. Due to COVID-19 restrictions parents are not permitted on school grounds.

Last Friday Sienna, Alex, Nick and Matilda attended Wadalba Community School for the second time as part of the Year 7 2021 Maths Enrichment program. They joined other students from other local primary schools in a range of projects and activities related to mathematics in the real world. They focussed on how to connect mathematical concepts, the best way of applying problem-solving skills and mathematical techniques, as well as improving their communication and reasoning skills.

Congratulations to these students on their selection into this program. The teachers at WCS were very impressed with not only their maths skills but also on their behaviour and how they represented Tuggerawong Pubic School so well.

Orders for the last Scholastic Book Club for 2020, Issue 8, need to be placed on LOOP no later than the morning of Monday, November 30 2020.
