Last day for students
Dear Parents & Community, Student Leaders Our Year 5 students are currently in the middle of the 2020 student election process. Our new, 2020 leadership team will be announced on Presentation Day. As Principal of Epping North, I am incredibly proud of each and every one of our students who stood for election. They have taken great care in crafting heartfelt, meaningful leadership speeches and have clearly taken time to consider their future leadership roles within the school. I would like to publicly recognise Mrs Anita Bareham who organised the 2020 student leadership process and supported the students so capably. I know that the students have benefitted greatly from her advice and tuition as they undertake the election process. Student Sickness
Unfortunately over the last week, there have been a
significant number of students attending sick bay with stomach upsets. There is obviously a bug going around at the moment, so if your child complains of a sore stomach, please do not send them to school. We need to try and stop the spread of this bug to other students and to members of staff.
3-6 Music Showcase Our 3-6 students have been keenly practising for the 3-6 Music Showcase which will be held this Thursday, November 28. They sound wonderful and have been really enjoying their music program during this term. They are very much looking forward to showing off their newly learned skills. Thank you in advance to Mrs Hope who has coordinated this event. We can’t wait to share it with you!

QTSS
This semester, our teachers are again using the Department of Education’s, Quality Teaching Successful Students initiative to participate in, collaborative planning, programming and assessment practices across all grades in the school. Through this, we will further increase consistency in curriculum across stages and year groups throughout the school. This will further impact the consistency of teacher judgment across grades and stages.
Attendance
We all want our students to get a great education, and the building blocks for a great education begin with students coming to school each and every day.
Missing school can have a major impact on a child’s future – a student missing one day a fortnight will miss four full weeks by the end of the year. By Year 10 they’ll have missed more than a year of school.
If your child is absent from school you are required to provide an explanation for absences to the school within 7 days from the first day of any period of absence through means such as telephone call, Sentral Parent Portal, written note or email. The 7 day timeframe for explaining absences is a requirement of the Education Act (1990).

Anglicare Toys ‘n’ Tucker
The Anglicare Toys‘n’Tucker Christmas Tree appeal has begun! We are collecting toys and tinned food for
those who are less fortunate in our community. The tree, where gifts can be placed, is in the office until the
end of Week 9 (the last full week of school). Toys’n’Tucker welcomes toys, books, tinned food, Christmas
cake and pudding. They shouldn’t be wrapped.
Thank you from SRC 2019

Concert Video
We will open the concert video purchases on Flexischools soon, videos will be available for $15 each.
Dance Committee 2020
We have a great little committee that works with the school and our dance teachers to keep the program running smoothly. In 2020 we need two new additions to the dance team – someone who likes numbers and someone else who likes organising things. We’re currently divvying up responsibilities to help take the load off any specific role. If you’re interested in joining us to help keep our program running smoothly, please email [email protected].
Thanks everyone for your support.

The 27th Carols on the Common – Carols in North Ryde
Join us for a local event at Sydney's second largest Christmas Carols in the heart of Ryde. The 27th annual Carols on the Common kicks off on SUNDAY 15 DECEMBER at 5:30 pm with live entertainment and Carols begin at 8 pm. The night ends with a firework display at 9:15 pm. Don’t forget to bring a picnic blanket and some nibbles. Food will also be sold by a range of vendors on the night. Rides and other amusements will be available from 5:00 pm onwards. It's best to bring cash, as cards may not always be accepted.
Visitors are asked to bring a reusable water bottle and to take their rubbish home at the end of the night. Water refill stations will be located around the event as there will be no bottled water sold. Money raised on the night goes to worthy causes such as ROMAC (Rotary Oceania Medical Aid for Children)- an organisation bringing sick and ill children from nations all over the world for life changing surgery in Australia. This year’s Carols on the Common will feature a mo-ment of silence and bucket collection for the victims.
--- Getting there --- Rotary Carols on the Common is held at the North Ryde Common (Cnr Twin Rd and Wicks Rd, North Ryde). Parking is available on-site and in surrounding streets. Amenities such as food, drinks and bathrooms are all located on-site. Parking is available on-site for a small donation. Be sure to get there early, as this usually fills by 6 pm. Entry to parking is via Wicks Rd. Additional parking is available in the neighbouring streets.
