Xi’an Region: During the summer, the weather is usually dry and hot, while in the fall that is when it gets most of its rain. If you you want to go during the winter, be prepared for the cold. In the spring and early summer, there may be dust storms so remember to stay indoors. Guardians of the Past     Breaking News!       Today in 1976 A group of peasants digging a well struck a clay statue (Travel Guide China). The statue was taller than the people that it was found by and was amazing in detail. They are planning to bring dig teams in to find anymore of the mysterious clay figures. Archeologists have a theory that all of these figures appear to be from the Qin dynasty. This was during the rule of the first emperor Qin Shihuangdi, a ruthless leader that had an iron fist on his kingdom (Patent 16­17). He was the first person to unite all of China. This relates to the statues because they appear to be in a formation they

imagine the skill of all of those people working towards the same goal. Next, all of these statutes had one purpose, and that was to protect their emperor in the afterlife. It is just amazing that people during that time had that much respect and loyalty to the same person is all but unheard of today. Lastly, out of all of the statutes, none of them are exactly alike. One of them may be tall and have a narrow straight face, and the other may have been shorter with a long nose and a short mouth. It is like they took a picture and sculpted it.  

used in their military, so they seem to be guarding something. "We find the underground pits are an imitation of the real organization in the Qin dynasty," said the Museum Director of the Terracotta Army (Lubow). Some to believe they are defending the emperors tomb. He strived to find immortality, but never could find it so he lives on forever through these statues. People know where the tomb is because it was described that it contained lots of mercury. Geologists have found an area that is very concentrated with mercury, but people choose to not excavate the tomb because they want to honor their emperor and founder. "People thought when the emperor died, he took just a lot of pottery army soldiers with 

him. Now they realize he took a whole political system with him," (Lubow). The statues themselves though and very helpful to researchers and archaeologists because they describe how the ancient Chinese looked and dressed and much more of their culture. Even though geologists know where the tomb of the emperor is, they do not want to excavate it, so they can respect their ancestor.  "For all Chinese people, he is our ancestor, and for what he did for China, we cannot unearth his tomb just because archaeologists or people doing tourism want to know what is buried there.”

There are many other attractions other than the Terracotta Warriors. Some of these include the Bell Tower, the Famen Temple, climbing the Cuihua Mountain, or the Huaqing Hot Spring, and even the Shaanxi History Museum

Movement:      If you want to go to Xi’an and see many of their attractions, you want to take a flight to the Xi’an International Airport. Once you get to the airport you find many ways to get around to sidewalks to buses, and even taxi’s.

    History: During the 200s B.C.E, there was conflict 

between the different clans that made up 

China. One of the clan leaders, named Qin 

Shihuangdi, conquered each clan one by one,

to slowly make China united for the first time. 

During his rule, he made a standard currency,

weights and measurements. The emperors 

name was Shihuangdi. He was always 

searching for the key for immortality. He 

believed it would be a potion (drink). It was 

even said that they visited mystical islands to 

the east. I believe that would be Hawaii, or 

America itself. Since he failed in finding the 

potion, he wanted to make a magnificent tomb

for himself and his entire guard and city to 

guard him there forever. So that is what we 

know as the Terracotta Army. His tomb 

guardian, so he may rest in peace in the 

‘afterlife.’  

      Allusion:  

 The new Lebron 11s color style is called the “Terracotta Warrior.” They said what inspired them was the Terracotta Army because they were the Ancient Chinese warriors and it would be hard to take them into to battle or in this case, basketball. “Inspired by the ancient terracotta warrior figures of China.”
