Project SASI (Student Administration System Integration) Phase 3 – Online Registration, University Western Cape
Description: This project implemented the first ever Online Registration system for UWC.
For the first time the University now have a Registration system available on the web which integrates with an Academic Programme System, a Class Time Table System and Student Financials.
Students can check their academic history, any outstanding finances or update personal information via the web.
Senior students can register themselves via the web, interact with the faculty on module choices and are immediately notified on the registration status, ie successful or issues to be resolved.

Project Student Administration System – University Western Cape
Description: Upgrade of the current LINC system to the new EAE platform.
This project was a technology upgrade for the university. The user interface was changed from old terminal based screens to new web based interface.
A Case Tool environment with a metadata repository make it easier to do further development as the attention will then be focused away from the technology constraints to the functional requirements.
The project created a platform to enhance further processes and systems required for Student Administration.

Project Marine Administration System for Marine Coastal Management (Open source development)
Description: This strategic Program for Marine Coastal Management consisted of the re-write of their total Marine Administration System, the re-write of their Compliance system and the re-write of all their Catch Systems, integrating all of above solution with each other.
This was a revenue generating program with a budget of R20m+ and a resource team on site under my management of 18 people. The program and the individual projects were managed according to PRINCE2 standards. The program focussed on the Administrative functions of MCM, all on old stand alone systems, combining them into 1 integrated system.
Java and Oracle were used as development platforms. Financial interfaces were built integrating the MAST program with Oracle Finance.
MCM had several Catch Systems, per sector, on stand alone pc’s which were also converted to the new MAST system, integrating with other functions.
Duties:

Project FAIS Monitoring program (Service Orientated Architecture)
Description: Sanlam implemented a Monitoring tool for the Key individuals according to the FAIS requirements. This program was divided into 18 smaller projects, each consisting of it’s own SDLC, which I managed. This project was based on service architecture, a new concept Sanlam explored with a few projects. Web service interfaces were built to transfer the data between the LID mainframe programs and the .NET app. With this project an Iterative Development Process was followed. The project required intensive management between the various IT teams, for example we had regular to understand the architecture and integration layers between the different functions. The different testing phase of the project especially the Integration Testing phase required extensive management.

Description: This strategic program to Sanlam was a first and I was privileged to be selected to manage this.
The focus of this program was to give unemployed black matriculants the opportunity to achieve a NQF level 3 qualifications according to the Financial Services charter.
The program had to define and implement the framework for future Learnerships.
Duties:

Project Information Security project (2004/5)
Description: This project focussed on the implementation of solutions to eradicate SPAM, WORMS, SPYWARE and malicious code on the Sanlam network with regards to inbound mail. Further phases focussed on the scanning of outbound mail for malicious code and the filtering of all internet browsing. Bandwidth savings were also achieved. Tri-party agreement was established between Sanlam and service providers. . I had the privilege to manage this contract between client, Vendor and Service Provider.

Description: Java developed front-end with Walker transactions in the background. Replacement of the old mainframe based creditors’ system with new technology.
