for Accuracy and Performance

Growing global trade is causingmanufacturers to pay closeattention to controlling, improv-ing, and measuring quality inall processes from designthrough manufacturing. Whilethis is good for product quality,it also increases your calibrationworkload. Fluke offers a wide rangeof calibration solutions to helpyou handle that workload.Choices that fit your budgetand your business.

High performance plus achoice of confidence levelsSince 1988, the Fluke 5700Ahas set the standard for multi-

function calibrator performance. The Fluke 5700A Series II and5720A set even higher stan-dards, calibrating your highperformance workload up to 81/2

digit system DMMs. Bothmodels now state specificationsto the standard Fluke 99%confidence level as well as the95% confidence level to supporteasy measurement comparisonsaccording to internationalquality standards includingISO 9000 and ISO Guide 25.All specifications are absoluteand include the uncertainty ofthe calibration standards used.No additional analysis isrequired. Relative specificationsare also available.

Dramatically improvedperformance specificationsThe new high performance5720A offers an unprecedentedaccuracy level that delivers thelowest uncertainties available. Itcalibrates more of your precisionmeter workload, more easily andcost effectively than ever before.

Intuitive easy-to-use designThe 5700A Series II and the5720A are remarkably easy touse. All readouts appear in plainlanguage rather than in crypticerror codes. Just enter values onthe numeric keypad and pressthe ENTER key.

Page 4: Test Equipment Solutions DatasheetSince 1988, the Fluke 5700A has set the standard for multi-function calibrator performance. The Fluke 5700A Series II and 5720A set even higher stan-dards,

Both the 5700A Series II andthe 5720A feature RS-232 andIEEE-488 interfaces, and cancontrol Fluke 5725A, 5220A,and 5205A/5215A Amplifiers, sothey are compatible with yourexisting equipment. Both alsofeature Artifact Calibrationwhich helps keep support costslow while providing confidencethat your instrument is perform-ing as you expect it to. The rugged 5700A/5720ACalibrators operate over a widetemperature range so they’re agood choice for on-site work aswell as in the lab.

A critical factor in specified calibratorperformance is the difference between theactual output value and the nominal outputvalue. The confidence interval is a statisticalexpression of the likelihood that any outputof any instrument will deviate beyond thisspecified difference or uncertainty. At Fluke we state calibrator specificationswith better than 99% confidence tominimize the risk for the user. However, because international metrology standardsrequire using a 95% confidence interval inall measurements, the 5700A Series II and5720A now offer both 99% and 95%confidence level specifications. This makesit easier to make valid comparisons ofmeasurements, and permits you to accept aslightly higher statistical risk in return forlower instrument uncertainty. In addition, both absolute and relative specificationsare provided.

Increase Confidenceand Efficiency While

Reducing Ownership Costs

The 5700A/5720A Calibratorsfeature Artifact Calibration. Onlythree artifact standards—a 10Vdc reference and 1Ω and 10 kΩresistance references—arerequired to calibrate all rangesand functions to full specifica-tions. Front panel instructionsprompt the operator to makeconnections and inputs eachstep of the way. The calibratorcontrols the process whichtakes only about an hour, compared to several hoursusing traditional methods.

In addition to saving timeand equipment costs, ArtifactCalibration extends the needfor external verification to twoyears or longer as required byyour standards and procedures. And, because the 5700A SeriesII and 5720A can tolerateoperating temperatures be-tween 15°C and 35°C they canbe calibrated where they’reused, rather than having to berecalled to the standardslaboratory for calibration.

Cal Check monitors perfor-mance between calibrationsFor extra confidence that5700A/5720A Calibrators staywithin specifications betweencalibrations, the built-in auto-mated Cal Check functionchecks each range and functionagainst internal standards tosee that all functions andranges are within specification. These Cal Check results can alsobe downloaded to a computervia the IEEE-488 or RS-232port to develop control chartsthat predict the calibrator’slong-term performance. Or youcan print the results directly.

Artifact Calibration transfers theassigned values of an externalartifact to a large array of multi-dimensional parameters within aninstrument. The instrument takesover the manual metrology functionsof establishing ratios and makingcomparisons, as well as controllingthe measuring process. As a result, Artifact Calibrationrequires just three standards totransfer external traceable values

Save time and support costs with Artifact Calibration

into the instrument. At that point, thecalibrator measures, verifies, andadjusts itself, reducing an eight-hourjob to about one hour. Thousands of5700A calibrators in service aroundthe world prove Artifact Calibrationdelivers fast, easy, and inexpensivecalibration along with the confidencethat your instrument is performing asexpected between calibrations.

5720A MultifunctionCalibratorThe 5720A calibrator raises theperformance of the worldstandard 5700A to the nextlevel. The 5720A covers themost demanding workload, covering DMMs up to 81/2 digitsand delivering the highest levelof performance of any calibratoron the market. It states specifi-cations to both 99% and 95%confidence levels and includespowerful internal features, suchas Artifact Calibration and CalCheck, to simplify support anddramatically reduce your costof ownership.

5700A Series II MultifunctionCalibratorIn service since 1988, the

5700A has undergone continu-ous improvements to becomethe 5700A Series II, one of themost tested and reliable highprecision calibrators Fluke hasever produced. Considered thecalibration standard worldwide, the 5700A Series II delivershigh value as well as accuracy, covering 51/2 to 71/2

digit DMMs.

Plus it offers the same ease ofuse, low cost of ownership, rugged design, simplifiedsupport, and confidence build-ing features as the 5720A.

5500A Multi-ProductCalibratorThe 5500A covers an unprec-edented range of dc and low-frequency electrical calibrationworkload, including digital andanalog multimeters, thermom-eters, handheld wattmeters,

current clamps, oscilloscopes, process calibrators, powerharmonics analyzers, andmuch more at an extremelyaffordable price.

5790A AC MeasurementStandardThe 5790A is a completeautomated ac measurementstandard designed for the mostdemanding calibration applica-tions. It provides a 24 ppmtotal uncertainty and covers awide 700 µV to 1000V voltagerange and a 10 Hz to 1 MHzfrequency range with theoption to extend it to 30 MHz.
