A RT drugs require that one has regular meals for them to work better

within the body. However, some clients are too weak to work and earn a

living to buy food and yet their families are too busy to feed them. Some

families do not think it is important to care for a person living with HIV. We have all

been affected by HIV and AIDS, let us join hands and support those who are infected

in our homes and communities. They too deserve to be taken care of and to live with

dignity.

Nutrition and HIV

J udith is an expert client and a Community AIDS Support Agent. In

her community, she helps all those who are registered for care

with TASO. She encourages them to take their ART drugs and

offers peer counseling to those who seek it. She also refers those who

need further psychosocial support to the HIV Counselors at her Center.

This is in addition to sensitizing her community especially the youth on

HIV and AIDS related issues at different forums. Right now she is

campaigning to see that more women of child bearing age and older go

for Cervical Cancer screening. She believes that one day, there will be a

world without HIV and AIDS.

S amuel has been bedridden for two years

now. He lives in pain and constant worry

about what kind of future his wife and

children will have if he is unable to get up and work. He is also unable

to complete his house due to lack of funds. However, he is so resilient

that he is able to smile through his pain. Can

we help him complete his house while we also

take care of his health? Can we keep offering

counseling to his family? Are you willing to join

us to have the family complete their house and

move from the hut to a brick house?

Improving lives

P hiona completed her apprenticeship in motor vehicle mechanics carried out by

TASO and sponsored by USAID. She is currently working with her trainer to earn

something to support her mother and four siblings. She is also looking for a job

that will provide her with a regular income. Her immediate needs include an overall and

work boots because what she has currently is worn out. Know of any job leads so she can

take care of her of her family and buy that overall and work boots?

Improving livelihoods

A fter he started treatment for HIV, Robert began to suffer some effects from the drugs he

was taking, He began to feel exhausted after a few hours of work, his legs were stiff, his

feet hurt and his nails were black. He was referred to the “miracle room” for reflexology.

After a few sessions of massage and reflexology, Robert began to feel healthier, his skin cleared,

his legs were less stiff and his feet hurt less. His skin also lost its ashy look and now looks shiny

and hydrated. He is all praises for Aromatherapy as part of the services people living with HIV

should have access to. He is adhering well to his drugs as well as receiving regular aromatherapy

since he can now see and feel the results.
