NarrativeThe AMERICAN JOURNAL OF CRIMINAL LAW strives to encourage improvement in the administration of criminal justice, publish scholarship on contemporary issues in the criminal law sphere, and connect students with practitioners in the criminal law field. AJCL is one of the top three student-edited legal journals in the nation devoted to exploring current issues in criminal law. Here at the University of Texas, we are the third longest-running law journal. AJCL is published three times a year and is one of the largest circulating and most cited journals at the University of Texas School of Law. Each issue contains articles by law school faculty, members of the judiciary, and practicing attorneys, as well as a significant amount of student work written by AJCL members. AJCL members move on to federal and state court clerkships, become prosecutors and public defenders, and practice criminal and civil law at both large and small law firms. Although no prior experience in criminal law is necessary to contribute to the journal, an interest in the field is important.

NarrativeThe TEXAS REVIEW OF LAW & POLITICS (TROLP) has a two-pronged mission: First, to publish thoughtful and intellectually rigorous conservative and libertarian scholarship that can serve as blueprints for constructive legal reform. Second, to connect right-leaning law students with the broader legal community that shares our core values, including lawyers, government officials, and (especially) judges. We highly encourage conservative and libertarian students selected for membership on the TEXAS LAW REVIEW (TLR) to consider dual-membership on TROLP, especially if they are interested in clerking for a right-leaning judge. Our Managing Editor, himself a dual-member of TLR and TROLP, will reduce those students’ TROLP requirements in order to accommodate TLR requirements. In short, if you’re interested in joining one of the strongest Texas-based conservative and libertarian networks in the country—a network that includes Judge Jennifer Elrod (5th Cir.), Justice Nathan Hecht (Texas Supreme Court), Justice Don Willett (Texas Supreme Court), and Governor Greg Abbott on its Board of Advisors, and has honored Justice Clarence Thomas, Justice Antonin Scalia, Judge Edith Jones (5th Cir.), Judge Jerry Smith (5th Cir.), and Judge Priscilla Owen (5th Cir.) at its annual Jurist of the Year Banquet—write on to TROLP!
