TEXELS EXCEL ATWINTER FAIRS

The Texel Sheep Society continued their sponsorship of the ever popular Winter Fair Prime stockChampionships this year and saw the breed taking many of the top titles. The Society would like

to congratulate all the exhibitors in the Prime stock shows Ð who are showing without any doubt thebenefits of the breed.

ENGLISH WINTER FAIR

The supreme sheep championship was won byAndrew Bishop from Pitfield Farm, Eldersfield,Gloucestershire with this pair of purebred Texelwether lambs.

The reserve Supreme overall pair also came from A D Bishop of Pitfield Farm, Eldersfield, Glos with their Dutch Texels.

Mrs Frances Henderson presenting the Texelchampionship awards to Brian McTaggart and hiswife with their Texel champion pair. The McTaggartstrade as Douganhill Farms at Orchardton Mains,Palnackie, Castle Douglas, Dumfriess and Galloway.

ROYAL SMITHFIELD 2008

The Champion butcherÕs pair was these Texels alsofrom Andrew Bishop of Gloucestershire.

Best pair of purebred butchers lambswere exhibited by Peter & CarolHouldey from Hill Farm, Hasfield,Gloucester, with their purebred Texels.

The Supreme Championship lamb carcase was a DutchTexel from Andrew Bishop of Pitfield Farm, Eldersfield,Glos.

Whilst the Reserve in thebutcherÕs section were this pair from Robin Slade ofOrchardview, Marston,Pembridge, Herefordshire.

ROYAL WELSHWINTER FAIR

The Supreme Champion carcase titlewent to Robin Slade of Orchardview,Marston, Pembridge, Herefordshirefor his Dutch Texel which weighed in at 37 kgs liveweight, and killedout at 21 kgs deadweight.
