Technological Innovations
PHOTOVOLTAIC PANELS & SLAB- BOARDS
— Panels, which can obtain electric energy from
solar energy, are produced with photovoltaic cells
that are laminated on the boards.
— Our principle is to obtain electric energy from
solar energy which is a clean energy source in
contrast to fossil fuels.
— Our objective is to cover the future’s elegant and
environmentally friendly buildings that can produce
their own energy by combining the slabs, which are
commonly used in faade sector, with photovoltaic panels
on the façade.
PHOTOCHROMIC SLABS
Photochromic eect is the reversible color change
of a material visibly or under UV wavelengths as a
result of electromagnetic radiation. The material
having photochromic eect is colorless in a dark
environment whereas it changes from colorless
state into color state by the eect of visible light or
ultraviolet light and returns to its original state with
the removal of the light source.
PHOTOCATALYTIC SLABS
— TiO2 (titanium dioxide), which is applied on
ceramic tiles with a special technology, has two
dierent functions on the surface. The first of these
functions is “decomposition power”. This feature
prevents the formation of bacteria and microbes
by decomposing various organics. Moreover, it
eliminates the problems like malodors and dust.
The second one is “hydrophilic” feature. This
feature ensures the dust to flow on the surface by
water’s creating a very thin film layer on the surface
and coming between the surface and the dust.
— The surface, which interacts with sunlight,
renders harmless the solid, liquid and gaseous
materials that form dust.
— This technology guarantees a permanent and
ecient cleanliness and hygiene on the exterior
façades and in hospitals, houses, schools, pools
and every environment in which ceramic coating
materials are used.
Benefits of the photocatalytic eect:
Self-cleaning exterior façades.
A more hygienic living space.
Lower maintenance-cleaning costs and water
consumption.
Antibacterial pools, bathrooms and toilets.
Eco-friendly buildings.
ECOLOGICAL VIEW OF KALESINTERFLEX
1. REDUCE GLOBAL WARMING
Global warming is a phenomenon that aects the average temperature of our
planet. According to most scientists, human activities are responsible for the
overproduction of “greenhouse gases” (or GHG, including CO2 as well as water
vapor, methane, nitrous oxide, and ozone) that contribute to global warming.
Reducing GHG has become an international priority, and everyone can contribute
by lowering one’s “carbon footprint”-the quantity of carbon dioxide released
by consumption patterns into the air. Buying vehicles that consume less, for
instance, has become a common choice. So why not extend this criteria to all
your purchases?
2. WATER PRESERVATION
Water is not an endless resource; it must be managed carefully and used
responsibly. Industries typically use large amounts of water in their production
processes, and are therefore called to manage its use by filtering, recycling and
whenever possible, using less of it. There are simple things can each of us can
do as well: turning o the tap when not needed, using class A+ appliances, and
remembering that everything we buy has a “water footprint.”
3. A RESPONSIBLE USE OF ENERGY
Most of the energy we use today comes from non-renewable sources. There is
a general worldwide consensus that we must shift toward the use of renewable
sources and develop more efficient machinery that makes a smarter use of
energy by recovering and reducing dispersions. Enhancing the thermal insulation
of buildings, for instance, is an easy and simple way to contribute to our planet’s
preservation.
4. MANAGING RESOURCES
All raw materials used to manufacture products come from the earth and return
to it, whether in a few days (like an apple) or a few thousand years (like plastic or
aluminum). It goes without saying that the less raw material we use, the better.
This can be achieved by recycling, using renewable sources, and of course, by
using less materials overall.
What can companies do? Green Building Certifications
Systems are being developed worldwide to evaluate the environmental impact
of products and processes along with methods to promote and reward eco-
friendly behaviours. Companies taking action to lower their impact on our planet
can communicate their committment by acquiring environmental certifications
released by the government or independent institutions that rate products and
processes in a comparable way. Particularly for the building sector, certifications
systems aim to evaluate the environmental impact of a construction and promote
eco-friendliness as well as energy efficiency. One of the most widespread
initiatives is US-based LEED (Leadership in Environmental Energy Design), a
green building certication system based on credits assigned for each element
of the building - including materials. These slabs can help earn credits within the
LEED system in the following areas:
SS 7.1 - Heat island eect - Nonroof
Slabs are produced in light colors that have an SRI (Solar Reflectance Index)
higher than 29. An additional advantage of these slabs is that, if
periodically washed, it does not absorb dirt and get darker over time. Other
materials tend to get darker (even if washed) and then achieve a lower SRI. For
example, weathered concrete has an SRI that is almost half that of new concrete.
Application eld: Hardscape including roads, sidewalks, courtyards, and parking lots.
MR 1/1.1 - Building Reuse - Maintain existing Walls, Floors, and Roof Because slabs are ideal for applying over existing structures (both inside and outside) it can be a suitable material for projects aiming at Credit 1/1.1.
IEQ 4.3 - Low-Emitting Materials - Flooring Systems Slabs have low Volatile Organic Compound emissions.
Slabs are made with one-fourth of the raw material per square meter than
a standard tile. This means that using the same raw material, it makes four times
the surface covering. Additionally, 1 square meter of Slabs only requires
a mere 8 liters of water to be produced, compared to 50 liters that are needed
for 1 square meter of a standard tile. Also consumption of natural gas is 3 times
lower, and consumption of electricity is 4 times lower than standard ceramic tile
production.
Is manufactured in a ISO 14001 - certied factory, meaning a location,
where the correct management of all production processes has been set.
The advanced production plant is designed to dramatically reduce greenhouse gas
emissions:
it only releases 1/1000 of CO2 and 1/20 of the dusts that are released in the atmosphere
from a standard tile plant.
In its pursuit of being environmentlally-friendly, this product does not compromise on performance. Thanks to technological innovation,
is a superior material in terms of hardness, durability, cleanability, and resistance to chemical agents. It is lighter, thinner and bigger than a standard tile, giving
it outstanding advantages in renovation. But despite the thinness, its thermal
insulation is comparable to that of a standard tile. It also ensures indoor air qualityin your home. It does not contain (and therefore emit) chemicals, and thanks tovirtually no water absorption, it provides extraordinary hygiene.
Technological innovation can help reduce the environmental impact of products
and processes without compromising on performance. This special product does
exactly this - compared to a standard tile, it requires less raw materials, energy,
and water to be manufactured while providing better performance at the same
time.
