How to use T.E.X.T.▪ Begin by identifying your topic. Let’s say that the topic of your essay is why music is important to students.

▪ Your thesis statement might say something like–Music is important because is helps students memorize ideas more easily, helps increase focus, and gives students a way to incorporate their personality into an English class curriculum.

Body Paragraph One▪ Your first paragraph is going to correspond to the first part of your thesis statement.

▪ You need to first state the topic of your paragraph in one concise sentence.

▪ Music makes memorization easier for students.

Body Paragraph One▪ Then you need to elaborate on your topic.

▪ Because music often rhymes, it is easier to remember words. The catchy melody also helps students to learn the content.

Body Paragraph One▪ Third, you need to provide specific evidence.

▪ As stated by the American Association for Music Education, “Students learn better when they are entertained by their lessons. They need to be able to make the content interesting in some way in order to retain it” (23).
