textilesAeria* is our raw material, our hallmark, the fabric used to cover all Texaa® products. As a textile it is warm, sensuous and highly technically sophisticated. The meticulously designed open stitch in which Aeria is knitted makes it almost totally sound transparent. It is extremely fire resistant and is entirely non-dripping. Used in combination with other acoustic materials, it respects the exacting fire safety ratings demanded in ceiling construction. Aeria is the only decorative, fire resistant textile available which is also stain repellent.

* Aeria, our sound transparent textile with an exclusive Texaa® patent

acousticsTexaa® products are made from porous foam or absorbent wadding, materials which absorb sound waves, thereby dramatically decreasing reverberation effects. Suddenly, speech becomes intelligible and the noisy commotion of a busy workplace becomes a comfortable sound environment.

architectureAt Texaa® we have established close working partnerships with architects, interior designers, acousticians and fitters over the last 30 years. This has been a fertile stimulant for product research and development, as we have sought to perfect acoustic solutions to meet demands for sound comfort in architectural design.

Texaa®

Texaa® is an independent company with fifty-five staff members dedicated to designing, manufacturing and distributing acoustic solutions for the places in which we live and work. Our products are produced near Bordeaux, where we follow them every step of the way, from knitting machine to final assembly.

A quarter of our production is exported overseas, to a wide variety of countries. Across France and in Frankfurt and London, qualified project managers offer their in-depth specialist knowledge of our products, of how they are manufactured and how they may be used in situ. They accompany individual projects, from the design table to the building site.

All Texaa® products are highly durable. They are hardwearing and enjoy a 10-year guarantee. Our panels and objects may be repaired and returned to use. We are proud to offer an efficient product follow-up service and will, upon request, replace fabric claddings or removable covers which are over 20 years old.

Aeria–Our Colour RangeChristine Bernos, architect and colourist, has reworked the colour range in which our unique fabric, Aeria is available. The 22 colours selected unfold in gradated shades of grey, beige and brown, not forgetting reds, greens and blues. The bywords of this selection process are sensitivity, technicality and durability, and the colours chosen are an expression of the spirit of the age, giving each and every individual the possibility of using them in free association, with enthusiastic exuberance or elegant restraint.

Basic range of 22 colours. Personalised colours available on request. Resistance to fading or colour alteration is always equal or superior to 5 on a scale of 0 to 8.

Vibrasto comprises an outer layer of Aeria laminated onto a layer of high performance sound absorbing foam or wadding, and may be used to clad a wide variety of architectural forms or volumes. Its presence is effortlessly discreet and it functions as a technically sophisticated “second skin”, enveloping walls and ceilings in its delicately textured embrace, in elegant blocks of colour. Vibrasto is produced in the full range of 22 colours available and may be used to enliven a given architectural volume or, on the contrary, create a sense of harmonious balance within an architectural design. The different thicknesses available offer faultless acoustic and technical qualities, meeting the most exacting professional requirements. Its anti-soiling coating makes it extremely hard-wearing, both reducing and facilitating the need for vacuum cleaning, or for cleaning by injection and extraction in the case of “stretch and glue” Vibrasto products.

Vibrasto 03Acoustic fabric to stretch and anchor

Vibrasto 03 is an acoustic covering which may be stretched and anchored into position over a wide variety of surfaces, such as ceilings and wall. It is made from an outer layer of Aeria laminated onto a 3 mm thick layer of felt wadding and offers a simple and highly effective acoustic solution which may be tailored to surfaces of all shapes and sizes. It may be implemented in such a way as to cover very large surfaces with the utmost economy and perfect precision of finishing. The interior designer enjoys full scope in creating the desired effect for each individual project, leaving the acoustician free to calculate the appropriate depth of sound absorbing backing required behind the Vibrasto 03.

The material is stretched between 30-mm T-shaped rails which lift the Vibrasto 03off the substrate. These pro les may be mounted on battens to accommodategreater thicknesses of sound absorbing backing. The product is very easy to install, and, unlike any other wall covering, can be taken down with the greatest ease and used elsewhere.

Vibrasto 10 and 20Glued Acoustic Materials

Vibrasto 10 and 20 are glue acoustic coverings made from an outer layer of Aeriatextile laminated onto a 10 or 20 mm thick layer of sound absorbing foam. Not only do they offer exceptional sound absorption, but are also sufficiently flexible to be fitted round the most delicate curve or angle.

Vibrasto 10 and 20 are generally fitted with a clean straight edge against ceilings and wall intersections, and recessed slightly against door and window frames. For visible edges of Vibrasto 10, Texaa® has two standard systems which provide a perfect finish: either a sheathed “L” rail which discreetly conceals the foam, or aluminium beading which underscores the Vibrasto’s malleability without adding extra thickness.

When fitted in front of glazed surfaces, Vibrasto blinds absorb sound reflections and filter incoming light. When used in open-plan spaces, they enhance acoustic comfort, creating subtle and flexible visual partitions. Their slats consist of a 10 mm thick foam core protected on both sides by a layer of Aeria acoustic fabric covering. They may be fitted to conventional headrail systems and comply fully with fire safety regulations. The width of slat chosen is an effective way of modulating the sense of space or light and shade in any given room.

Texaa® pioneered the idea of introducing sound absorbing panels into a given volume as a means of enhancing acoustic comfort. Since the early days, we have perfected our single-sided Stereo panels to reflect our depth of experience in this field. The panels may be installed in a variety of ways, showing just how adaptable and durable they are. They are easy to maintain and may be re-used, in both new build and renovation projects.

Single-sided Stereo panelsOur single-sided Stereo panels are available in a wide variety of modular sizes and in all of the 22 colours of the Aeria fabric range. Their metal frames guarantee the strict geometric form of each element, making them perfectly adaptable to any environment. Stereo panels are efficient acoustic tools when used in isolation or grouped together, fitted to walls or ceilings or suspended from cables. They may be implemented in spatial configurations in which acoustics require pinpointed treatment, or used to treat a given volume as a whole. A simple system allows them to be joined together to form a large acoustic cloud, inspiring creative combinations in terms of size, colour, printed or embroidered motifs.

An acoustic cloud made up of overlapping single-sided Stereo panels creates a playful layering or stacking effect. More subtle arrangements may also be implemented; scattering the composition through the volume treated creates a sense of liveliness, while vertical stacking creates a quite different perception of space.

Each panel has 4 adjustable sliders. One or several cables pass through the panel depending on the arrangement chosen.

Single-sided Stereo panels, Suspended from vertical cables, as a canopy

The subtle incline of the panels forms a highly efficient acoustic solution for open spaces. The canopy of panels is extremely simple to install and the fixing feet may be switched round so as to inverse the apex of the canopy as required. This is an excellent acoustic solution for places where sound comfort is a must–open-space office areas, call centres, halls or cafeterias. The canopy provides a comfort zone, functioning as an acoustic refuge, within a wider space.

Two individual modules–triangle and / or trapezium–with discreet fixing feet make it possible to form a convex or concave canopy with a gradient of 7°. A 70 mm wide opening lies at the centre of the structure to allow air, cables or lighting fitments to pass through. Standard Stereo panels may be added to the basic assemblage to increase size.

Abso objects are not only extremely light and therefore easy to transport or rearrange, but also extremely good at absorbing sound reverberation. They embody the simplest expression of sound absorbing foam and Aeria in combination. They are dirt and shock resistant and may be used to address the question of sound comfort a posteriori, thereby changing the whole feel of a given space without necessitating an additional phase of building work.
