T.F. Allen´s Encyclopedia online ! “The Encyclopedia of Pure Materia Medica: A Record of the Positive Effects of Drugs Upon the Healthy Human Organism” von Timothy Field Allen (1837-1902) is the largest collection of proving data ever, written 1874–1879 in 12 Volumes. It contains most of the provings that had been conducted until that time and a lot of toxocological data as far as it was known then. The first 10 Vol.s contain the original material in alphabetical order, Vol. 11-12 are an index to symptoms. Until recently this huge amount of material was only accessible in printed form or integrated in some of the homeopathic computer programs with materia medica, and always quite expensive. Now this Encyclopedia is also available online and free of copyright. So it makes sense to look for your remedy in both places in the index. Many of the remedies in Allen have been given names, that are not used nowadays. Please have a look at the substance page in our database to see alternative names. Uncommon names given by Allen are marked as (Allen).
