    Sea Rays RelaysBucknell Bison Open

    Meet Preview:

The outdoor track squad will split again this weekend with a majority of the crew

traveling to the University of Tennessee on Friday and Saturday for the Sea Rays

Relays, while a small distance contingent will be running Saturday night at the Bison

    Open at Bucknell.

With the season almost half done, the sprint crew looks to tighten its grip on the

Conference standings. Mercedes Jackson will continue to broaden her dominance

in what should be her stiffest competition since the ECAC Championships indoors.

Also look for the 400 meter crew of Adelola, Jones, Young, and Abbey to make a

mark once again as they begin to hit their stride. On the mens side, watch for Sean

Cooper to go under the 11 second barrier again and for Josh Hewitson to have

break out performances in the 200m and 400m dashes.

For the distance runners, 800m specialists Andrew Smith and Cody Mezebish will

both be looking for post-season qualifying times. At Buckell, the steeple appears to

be the event of choice, with Brandan McGee and Roy Jones looking for IC4A

qualifying performances, while Keri Wilson will be pushing the school record in that

    event.

The long jump will be a busy event, with four men and two women walking ontothe runway. All four men (Teyibo, Obemeata, Bertram, and Cooper) and two

women (Malomo-Paris and Jones) will be looking to push the post season barrier. In

the womens throwing events, Chrissy Robinson will be attempting to keep her hot

streak going, looking for three exceptional performances in the shot, disc, and

hammer. On the Mens side, the full accompaniment will be out, look to Brooks in

the shot and discus and McDearmon in the hammer to shine.

    Athlete Spotlights

    Briana Young:

Young opened up with a solid indoor campaign, finishing the year #6 on the All Time

400m list and #9 on the All Time 200m list. However, last weekend she could have been

the most valuable performer for the meet for the Retrievers. She moved up to the #5 A

Time spot in the Outdoor 400 meters with a 57.52 while recording a 25.57 in the 200

meters to move up to #10 on the All Time List. In addition to covering a leg on the schoo

record setting 4x100 meter relay and a leg on the 4x400 meter relay.

    Cameron McDearmon:

McDearmon keeps plowing through the year, with one solid performance followed by

another. This past weekend, competing at the Liberty University Invite, he continued

that pattern with a personal best 170 8 hammer throw, good enough to move him up

to #3 All Time and nearly eclipsed the IC4A Qualifying mark in the event. This weekend

he will see more focused action in the hammer again and some time in the shot put

    circle.

    Inside the Numbers:

Total net improvement from Kirsten McGoverns previous personal best time in the

10,000m (44:41) last year to her #6 All Time Performance last weekend at the Duke Invit
