TRURO FAMILY NEWSNOVEMBER 27–DECEMBER 04, 2011

It is a joy to share in the work of the church that

has meant so much to me. At age 16, my life

was changed at my very fi rst visit to Truro—at

the House of Bread, a thriving fellowship

reaching out to teens and college students. In

that packed undercroft, I encountered riveting

preaching, lively worship, and the Holy Spirit

in such a powerful way that my life and faith

would never be the same. As an adult, I have

been blessed by Truro in more ways than I can

count—TIPS, 20’s and 30’s, parish retreats,

beautiful worship—and the place where I met

and married my dear husband Chip.

Long before we met, Chip and I were both

convinced of the worth of tithing, a practice we

brought into our marriage. Some of the reasons

we give are that we believe:

God blesses us abundantly in myriad ways. The

ability to work and produce wealth is a gift from

God, and our offerings simply return a portion

of God’s extravagant gifts back to Him.

God wants our hearts—to give willingly and

cheerfully. Chip has taught me about joyful

giving as I witness the happiness he experiences

as he donates to various ministries.

Through beautiful ministries of Truro such as

Love the World Fellowship and the Lamb Center,

we are able to minister to Jesus—who tells us

what we have given to the least, we have given

to Him.
