E-LEARNING AT THE GARDENS SCHOOL FOR 2014

Do you want your child to be part of The Gardens School’s E-Learning classes? This year we have had four three E- learning classes for Years 5-8 students with five highly motivated teachers, who want students to be learning in a 21st Century way, using technology to engage them and enhance their learning. To offer these classrooms, with the technology at hand when needed, comes at a cost and we are asking parents to purchase an i-Pad and pay a fee for their child to be part of this. For $150.00 a term, your child will have access to the latest technology including laptops, digital cameras, interactive whiteboards, video cameras and to wireless information to enhance their learning. A commitment to the full year is necessary, as students cannot opt in and out. E-Learning is firmly established in our school and the programme and successes are well known, so a parent meeting may not be necessary. However, if there is sufficient interest, we will have an information evening where you can find out more and ask any questions you may have.If you are interested in your child taking part in this class next year, fill out the form below.

I understand and commit to the purchase of an i-Pad for my child’s use and full payment of the E-learning costs for 2014 ($600.00 for the year).

SPORTS NOTICES:WATERPOLOCongratulations to our Y6-8 Waterpolo team who, on Tuesday, won the Intermediate Schools Development Tournament in Manurewa, beating Holy Cross in a Golden Goal finish.Special mention to Connor Tyer and Olivia Bonnar for receiving individual awards and Matthew Goldfinch for scoring the winning goal! All of this was made possible due to Liz Bonnar giving her time to coach the team. A big thanks also to the parents who went along to help manage the team and cheer them on.

TOUCHA good effort by our Y7/8 mixed touch team who finished 2nd at Counties today, losing 2-1 to Weymouth Intermediate, who went onto take the title. Can't help feel a little disappointed we didn't make it to Auckland as it was our only bad game for the day. This was the last tournament for a group of Y7/8 boys who have served our school impressively over the last 4 years at interschool sport. It has been a pleasure to have been a part of your sporting success Ethan Matai, Max Mata, Hayden Dickson and Jamarl Wills. Without you boys, TGS wouldn't have developed it's reputation for excellence....you will be missed!

ATHLETICSWell done to all of the students on a very successful school athletics on Monday.  Certificates for individual events will be given out next week during team assemblies.  As this goes to print we are waiting on the weather to see if the Y0-4 Athletics goes ahead….fingers crossed!Y5-8 Individual ChampionsY5 Girl Jaimee Brown - Kowhai! !
