Presentation Title: Effects of intraoperative magnesium sulphate administration on the
incidence of chronic postsurgical pain in patients undergoing total knee
arthroplasty
Biography:
Sang-Hwan Do is specialized in Orthopedic anesthesia, and has quite a few clinical
experiences of using magnesium sulphate during surgeries of diverse kinds. Through his
numerous publications on magnesium, he stresses the efficacies of this mineral in surgical
patients, such as improvement of postoperative pain, potentiation of intraoperative
neuromuscular blockade and so on. In this abstract, he suggests the possibility that magnesium
could improve surgical outcome not only in the short-term but also in the long term period
after surgery in terms of postoperative pain. Now he is working at Seoul National University
Bundang Hospital.
Presentation Title: Transnasal sphenopalatine ganglion block for postdural puncture headache
treatment after spinal anesthesia – case report.
Biography:
Dr Vakhtang Shoshiashvili is specialized in anesthesiology and has a quite a few experiences of
regional anesthesia and pain management. He also contributed in treatment of cancer pain
conditions. Since 2013 he is an expert in anesthesia and intensive care at TSMU and Ministry of
Health Care and Social Affairs Republic of Georgia. Currently he is also an associate professor at
European University and since 2016 is working as an anesthesiologist at Research Institute of
Clinical Medicine Tbilisi, Georgia.

He is specialist of anesthesiology and subspecialist of intensive medicine. He is also senior
lecturer in University North, Varazdin, Croatia, Department of Biomedical Sciences, and has
lectures in topics of anesthesiology, resuscitation and intensive medicine. Currently is working
on several scientific projects and multicenter trials from the field of cardiac anesthesiology
and care of cardiac patients in intensive medicine. Primary interests are in patients'
hemodynamics, pharmacotherapy, mechanical heart support and echocardiography.

Biography:
Is currently in his 13th year on faculty at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center; He
is grateful to serve as a clinician at a world renowned cancer hospital alongside experts
in medicine and academia. In addition to his clinical duties as an associate attending in
the department of anesthesia and critical care medicine, he serves myriad leadership
roles and functions. He is the Chair of Anesthesia QA and serves as a co-chair on the
hospital RCA committee. He is also the Director of Robotic Anesthesia and serves on
both Clinical Practice Committee and our M2/M6 platform committees. On the state
level he serves dual roles on the New York State Society of Anesthesiologists where he
is on the QA committee for the state and serves as an alternate delegate for the District
of Manhattan. On a national level, he is an oral board examiner for the American Board
of Anesthesiology.

Dr. Shagun Bhatia Shah is a motivated and dedicated anaesthesiologist with
seventeen years of experience in anaesthesia and over 50 publications in various
international peer reviewed journals. Her interest in oncoanaesthesia drove her to
practice as a consultant at RGCI&RC. Her specific interests include recent advances
in anaesthesia like USG-guided nerve blocks, difficult airway and anaesthesia for
robotic surgery. She is certified in TOE (Trans oesophageal echocardiography) use
and utilizes it for managing cardiac patients undergoing noncardiac oncosurgery.
She has successfully conducted clinical trials like “Optic Nerve Sheath Diameter
guided noninvasive ICP measurement in patients undergoing robotic surgery in
steep Trendelenberg position” and is presently conducting the trial “ TOE for
intraoperative goal directed fluid therapy in cardiac patients undergoing non cardiac
oncosurgery and robotic surgery in ST-position” among others. She is ready to walk
that extra mile with post- operative and terminally ill cancer patients to alleviate
their pain and suffering.

Biography: Vladko Pelivanov is an anesthesiologist and pain physician who was born and
raised in Skopje, North Macedonia, EU. He graduated from the University of “Saints Cyril
and Methodious”, including his residency training in Anesthesiology. He subsequently moved
to Canada with his family and completed his anesthesiology residency training (yes, second
one) at the University of Saskatchewan in 2014. He did fellowship training in chronic pain
management before taking on an academic position with the Department of Anesthesiology,
Pain Management and Perioperative Medicine at Dalhousie University in 2015. Vladko’s
clinical interests lie in general anesthesia and acute and chronic pain management. Outside of
the hospital environment, Vladko loves spending time with his children and spouse as well as
their new puppy Maggie.
