It is well connected by road and rail to all the major cities in India and it has also a small airport. Mysore is 139 Kms to the south west of Bangalore. The state highway that connects these two cities is very well maintained. Travelling from Bangalore to Mysore by road will take about 3 hrs. There are ordinary buses, semi- luxury buses and luxury buses operated by the government of Karnataka. Every half an hour there is a non-stop bus to Mysore from Bangalore bus station. The quickest and most easiest way to reach Mysore is via Bangalore. The nearest airport is Bengaluru. th There will be local sight seeing on 25 February 2012. Travelling to Mysore is easy. It is well connected by road and rail to all the major cities in India and it has also a small airport. Mysore is 139 Kms to the south west of Bangalore. The state highway that connects these two cities is very well maintained. Travelling from Bangalore to Mysore by road will take about 3 hrs. Executive body of DGSI

The Deccan Geographical Society, India established in 1962 and publishes journal, namely “The Deccan Geographer” journal regularly. This journal got international recognition number ISSN -0011-7269. Every year two issues of the journal (June & December) are published and circulated among 1000 life members, 700 libraries in India and 29 countries in the world. The special issues have been published by DGS Society on Historical Geography (1992), index volume (2000) and Climatology (1997). Besides this, DGS society publishes Marathi medium geography, Planners and Scientists belonging to allied disciplines

The Deccan Geographical Society, India has constituted “Bhugol Bhushan Award” from 2006. This award consists of certificate of excellence, memento and cash prize. The DGS society tries, seeks and commits to promote geographical related activities in the field of watershed management, earth quake, micro level planning, weather forecasting, rural development, urban planning and tribal development. And therefore DGSI society nominates a person for Bhugol Bhushan Award every year. This award will be presented at the time inauguration of DGSI conference.

The weather condition during the end of February is dry and pleasant. The weather does not require any heavy woolens. Mysore city is a favorite tourist destination in Karnataka. It has rich historical and cultural legacy. Mysore is known as the 'City Of Palaces'. It has a number of Royal buildings, gardens, waterfalls, temples, museums and modern amusement parks. One of the popular spots is the Chamundi hills, the KRS dam and the adjoining Brindavan Gardens which are worth visiting. Mysore is a haven for migratory birds and are set in lush green surroundings. The Mysore Zoo is the oldest Zoo in the country. There are also some important wild life sanctuaries which are very popular among tourists.
