MESSAGE FROM OUR PASTOR If we could describe the apostles in one word it would be with the word “fearless”. Peter, and
his brother Andrew; James, the son of Zebedee, and his brother John; Philip and Bartholomew, Thomas and Matthew the tax collector; James, the son of Alphaeus, and Thaddeus; Simon the Cananean, and Matthias, who took the place of Judas the Iscariot who betrayed Jesus, were courageous in putting their faith into action. The apostles were the first witnesses of the resurrection and yet they were often unsure or fearful of proclaiming the truth. However, after the descent of the Holy Spirit on Pentecost, the apostles are strengthened and courageously went out into the whole world preaching, teaching, and converting Jews and gentiles alike to Christianity. The apostles in their journey to foreign lands brought the good news of salvation to the entire world. Eleven of the twelve lost their life in doing so. My dear brothers and sisters in Christ on the day of our Baptism we received the gift of the Holy Spirit and, on the day of our Confirmation this gift was renewed and strengthened. Our Baptism and Confirmation call us into action, to work actively in loving our brothers and sisters to Jesus Christ. In the Gospel according to St. Matthew we hear “You are the light of world.” We are the vessel that shines forth the light and glory of God. May we always pray to the Holy Spirit to make us bold in our work as disciples of Christ. And may we never forget that we must rely on HIS grace and power to renew the face of the world.
Come Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful and kindle in them the fire of your love. Send forth your Spirit and they shall be created. And You shall renew the face of the earth.
O, God, who by the light of the Holy Spirit, did instruct the hearts of the faithful, grant that by the same Holy Spirit we may be truly wise and ever enjoy His consolations, Through Christ Our Lord, Amen.
MENSAJE DE NUESTRO PASTOR Si pudiéramos describir a los apóstoles, en una palabra, sería con la palabra "sin miedo". Pedro y su hermano Andrés; Santiago, el hijo de Zebedeo, y su hermano Juan; Felipe y Bartolomé, Tomás y Mateo, el recaudador de impuestos; Santiago, el hijo de Alfeo, y Tadeo; Simón el Cananeo y Matías, quien tomó el lugar de Judas el Iscariote que traicionó a Jesús, fueron valientes al poner su fe en acción. Ven, Espíritu Santo, llena los corazones de tus fieles y enciende en ellos el fuego de tu amor. Envía tu Espíritu y todo será creado. Y repuebla la faz de la tierra.

It is time again for our annual special offering for the Church in Latin America. Although the people are faith-filled, the needs in this region of the world are great and often seem insurmountable. The distance between rural areas and deteriorated roads make it difficult for some communities to have Mass celebrated regularly. Language barriers can make catechetical materials difficult to produce. We are called to share our faith with all, and today’s collection is a prophetic and bold way to do it.
For the past fifty years, the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops has helped 25 countries in Central and South America to confront challenges to the faith. With the support of all the Catholic faithful, we have funded activities that promote and encounter with Jesus Christ so that the faithful can become missionary disciples.
On the very same weekend, June 15 and 16, we are also conducting the Catholic Home Missions Appeal. The Church has great needs around the world and the United States is no exception. Many dioceses here at home face challenges due to priest shortages, lack of funds, remote geography, or impoverished parishes. Forty-two percent of all diocese in the USA receive Catholic Home Missions support for evangelization, catechesis, ministry formation, and other areas of faith development. Your support of this collection will help our neighbors strengthen the Church at home to continue to provide essential pastoral outreach in home mission dioceses.
I am counting on your usual generosity again this year. Your support for each of these collections is vital. When you contribute, you become an instrument of peace and join with other Catholics in solidarity with the needy.

Es hora de que nuevamente nuestra ofrenda especial anual para la Iglesia en América Latina. Aunque las personas están llenas de fe, las necesidades en esa región del mundo son grandes, y frecuentemente se consideran insuperables. La distancia entre las zonas rurales y los caminos deteriorados se hacen difíciles para algunas comunidades que celebran la Misa regularmente. Las barreras del idioma pueden hacer que los materiales catequéticos sean difíciles de producir. Estamos llamados a compartir nuestra fe con todos, y la colecta de hoy es una manera profética y audaz de hacerlo.
Durante los últimos cincuenta años, la Conferencia de los Obispos Católicos de los Estados Unidos ha ayudado a 25 países en América Central y del Sur a enfrentar los desafíos de la fe. Con el apoyo de todos los fieles católicos, hemos financiado actividades que promueven un encuentro con Jesucristo para que los fieles puedan convertirse en discípulos misioneros.
