Cool-Jae is regarded as one of the leading choral composers in Korea and is currently artist in residence for the National Chorus of Korea.

He has served Korean Choral Composers Asso-ciation as chairman since its foundation in 2008, the Seoul International a Cappella Festival as president and Bohol International Choir Festival & Competitions (www.bicfc.com) in the Philippines as artistic director. He also gives lecture on choral arrangement & orchestration in UOS and teaches at many Symposiums/Workshops on choral music in and out of Korea such as Vietnam, Guam, Tai-wan, Australia, Singapore, and Indonesia.

He majored in composition at the University of Seoul (UOS) and traditional Korean music at Seoul National University (SNU) as an undergraduate. It was during this time that he began to travel across the countryside to pursue training in folk music. As he was truly attracted by the distinct sounds from the different regions, he directly tried to apply what he had learned from folk music experiences to his original compositions. He is listed as a biographee of Marquis who‘s who in the World as well, for his music blending Korean traditional music factors with western music common practice successfully. He gained his Master’s degree in traditional Kore-an music composition at SNU and recently finished

his DMA course in choral conducting at Gwang-Ju University (GJU).

As a conductor, he won Grand-Prix from three national choral competitions and one more Grand--Prix from the World Choir Championship. He was also awarded The Most Important Achievements of the Year, the Korean Federation for Choral Mu-sic (KFCM) Award, 2010.

His works are quite popular in Korea due to how they connect with the audience, preserving the original form of traditional elements and em-ploying Korean culture and literature into his music. He has written numerous operas, musical theaters, masses, small pieces, and choral arrangements of traditional music, native art songs, as well as popu-lar songs. Among his larger works, his third mass setting, Missa IEODO was premiered during the 8th World Symposium for Choral Music in Den-mark, in 2008. He started to publish his work ab-road such as Missa Arirang, his maiden work in 2002 by Carus Verlag, Germany and one of his small pieces titled ‘Never Forget’ by Pavane, US in 2016.

Cassandra Black (USA)

Cassandra Aaron Black has performed as a soloist in Italy, Switzerland, Germany, China, throughout the United States, and is making her Thailand debut. The Houston Chronicle described her as “Moving, masterful, and marvelous,” Culture Map called her „Nothing short of thrilling,“ and the St. Petersburg Times said “Cassandra was dazzling.”

One of Cassandra‘s highlights has been portraying the extremely demanding role of “The Dirty Duche-ss, Margaret of Argyll” in Thomas Ades‘ Powder Her Face for which UK‘s Opera Magazine said,

“Cassandra Black …was fully up to the musical and dramatic challenges. Unfazed by the punishingly wide-range vocal writing she sang with allure and acted with assurance.”
