As We Gather
Do you like competition? It's amazing how much we are enamored with
competition in America - from game shows to competitive sports. We
teach our kids to win at all costs and we encourage our adults to
"squash the competition." What's behind all of this? Pride and
comparison. Pride is often sinful, and comparison gives us a false sense
of security. Pride allows us to be puffed up, and comparison allows us
to feel better than others. The problem with these are that neither of
them is worth anything on judgment day. God is not interested in how
well you've done and certainly not whether you are "better" than your
neighbor. God has a different standard.

viability of Christianity if the faithful do not employ a completely new outlook. Lyons looks ahead, citing current day
models and examples, of how Christianity over the next 100 years can and must adapt, as he optimistically paints a
picture of how Christianity’s best days just might lay ahead as a new generation rediscovers their faith in this
unprecedented new era in the West.

love or trust the Lord. Such a world is filled with demons
of our own creation. Those demons might inhabit a

found in cultures that cook with campfires and those
that cook with microwaves…Find out more, visit:

DECEMBER CHRISTMAS OFFERING
BJ Lahr 760-945-3750
A very special Christmas Offering -- a gift for our
Lord. This year, your Christmas offering will be
divided equally in four areas:
1 – Coffee Fellowship Cart & Equipment RBTS
will be building a shade structure outside the
sanctuary for which we will be having a more
“permanent” coffee cart with equipment. Your
donation will allow us to purchase those items and
be able to enjoy a much nicer outdoor fellowship
area.
2 – Support for the youth program – the
confirmation class will again be traveling to the
district youth convention in March – your support
will help to offset the cost of $165 per person.
Additional funds will be used for other youth
activities and to outfit the lounge with supplies.
3 – Lutheran Malaria Initiative (LMI) – one child
dies from Malaria every 60 seconds. 1 million people
die each year from a disease that is both preventable
and treatable. LMI is working in communities to
control malaria including proper diagnosis and
prompt medical treatment. They do this through –
Education – educating families on the causes,
symptoms, treatment and prevention of malaria
Treatment – Increasing access to affordable
medical care and resources for malaria prevention
Prevention – provides treated bed nets to families
and trains them on their proper use. Every $1 helps
save a life. 100% of funds go to Malaria
programming in Africa. Visit lutheranmalaria.org for
more information!
4 -- Benevolent Fund – RBTS keeps a fund to help
those in need – both within our congregation and
outside. We are able to assist more people in more
ways as funds are available.
Use your Christmas offering envelope
or one found in the back of the pews,
starting in December.

At REDEEMER BY THE SEA, we want to be a LIGHTHOUSE
to our community and the world! We do that by concentrating our efforts in three areas: Worship – Grow – Serve. In worship we encounter and receive the light of Christ through Word and Sacrament. Then we fan into flame and grow that light within us through study and fellowship with the Body of Christ. Equipped and encouraged, we then serve our community and
the world with the light of Christ shining through us to them!
Sunday Mornings: Wednesday Evenings (7pm):
11/28 The Faith of Christmas 12/5 The Promise of Christmas 12/12 The Peace of Christmas 12/19 The Christ of Christmas
12/2 The Light of Hope 12/9 The Light of Joy
12/24 -- Christmas Eve -- The Light of Wonder
12/16 The Light of Life 12/23 The Light of Salvation
Let Us Go to Bethlehem and Find:
Night of Miracles
You are invited to a very special event to celebrate the Birth of Christ this Christmas season. This cantata is an inspirational and beautiful
presentation in word and song, very fitting to bring us the wondrous story of Jesus Christ, and His arrival on earth.
