$750 Soco Realty People’s Choice AwardThis Award will be presented to the work that receives the greatest number of votes from exhibition visitors by the close of the exhibition period. The winning artwork may be pasted up in the Angelo Street Coles Underground Car Park alongside previous winners.
AWARD
Jana Braddock Artist and Curator Jana Wallace Braddock has been a practicing artist for over ten years, after completing her Masters of Visual Arts at the University of South Australia. She has more than six years curatorial experience in both South Australia and Western Australia and has also been a panel member for numerous art awards and prizes. She currently resides in South Perth and is the curator of Heathcote Museum and Gallery.
Jana is also the curator of the 2016 Emerging Artist Award Exhibition.
Tom Mùller Artist and Artistic Director/General Manager at PS Art Space FremantleTom Mùller was born in Basel, Switzerland in 1975 and graduated with a Bachelor of Visual Arts (1st Class Hons) from Curtin University of Technology in 2000.
Tom has exhibited extensively both nationally and internationally, including The Adelaide Biennial of Australian Art, Art Gallery of South Australia; Primavera, Museum of Contemporary Art, Sydney; Mix Tape, Art Gallery of Western Australia; Maschi Fontana, Musée d’Art Contemporain Moutiers just to name a few. He has received a scholarship, and numerous grants from the Australia Council and the Department of Culture and the Arts. Mùller’s work is held in the collections of the Art Gallery of Western Australia; Parliament House, Canberra; Artbank, Sydney; The City of Fremantle; The University of Western Australia; and Curtin University of Technology.
In 2010, Big City Press published a major monograph on his work, Tom Mùller, Rhythms in the Chaos, spanning ten years of active practice.
Professor David Hawkins Head of School, School of Design and Art, Curtin UniversityProfessor David Hawkins is Head of Curtin University’s School of Design and Art. Previously he led Falmouth University’s Graduate School in the UK. Over the last forty years he has often worked in metal, on projects from jewellery to architectural scale with a particular emphasis on forged, hammered and machined pieces. Other research and practice has included product and vehicle design, ergonomics and user-centred design, smart energy grids and digital design - including computer games.
He has managed five curated art galleries, been a Trustee and Director of several creative organisations in the UK, including the Folkestone Creative Foundation and the Devon Guild of Craftsmen, run his own design and manufacturing business, and lectured at universities in the UK, Ireland and New Zealand. Current research and practice interests include collaborative creative practice, bespoke crafted interfaces and products, and growing new art and design businesses. Professor Hawkins is also a member of the City of South Perth’s Public Art Advisory Panel
