Holly Diaz , Educational Specialist, brings numerous experiences to the Right Reason Technologies team.  With a dual certificate in K-12 general and special education, Holly has taken on leadership roles within Professional Learning Communities, Data Teams, RTI development and implementation, and as a district mentor.  Within special education, Holly has taught using various models of instruction, such as inclusion, resource, and self-containment to ensure that her widely diverse student populations were successful in reaching AYP.  Holly also brings experience in the area of technology as a Certified IEP program administrator, trainer, and liaison.  Within RRT, Holly incorporates her experience to develop curriculum, including state approved assessments and RTI lessons.  Holly also provides professional development to school districts, covering a multitude of educational topics.

RTI is:• An initiative that supports school

wide improvement goals

• Intended to help as many students as possible to reach proficiency without special education

• A method to unify general and special education in order to create a continuum of services

• Focused primarily on effective instruction to enhance student growth

RTI is … and is NOT

RTI is NOT:

•Solely a special education initiative

•A means for increasing the number of students into special education

•A method for increasing ordecreasing the number of students who utilize special educationfor interventions

• the sole purpose for RTI is to identify children with LD or other disabilities?

• we continue to use the same methods of delivering instruction to at risk students?

• we view special education as a place for intervention?

NOTHING! In fact, we could INCREASE the number of children we identify

for special education.

• our aim for RTI is to implement a process to identify and support all learners?

• we use research validated core and supplemental curriculum and instructional programs to provide tiered instruction?

• we view special education educators as experts who support general education teachers in working with students at risk?

THE ANSWER:

EVERYTHING! In fact, we will DECREASE the number of children we identify for special education and INCREASE the number of children who are successful!
