Capital One/Junior AchievementFinance Park

Please Remember to Complete a Volunteer Registration Form!

Introduction

The Capital One/Junior Achievement Finance Park site

Student ArrivalUpon student arrival we will have you stand in a line

and assign you a group of students.

You will then take your group to your table, and give them

only a name tag and debit card (with a life situation sticker

on it).

A JA staff member will announce when everyone should

come back into the park for announcements and

student log in.

Student Login Screen

Step 1: Each student must enter in his/her account number and pin

Step 2: Each student must enter in his/her real first and last name

The Truth Revealed

Each student calculates his/her Net Monthly Income (NMI) and budget guidelines.

Distribute Student FoldersPlease be certain students write name and account number on folder.

The blue NMI Worksheet

All answers must be rounded to the nearest dollar!

Check student’s answers and initial when correct.

Read Aloud Lucky Chance Card (If applicable)

For example:Account Number 050

A relative pays you $25 this month to help her with her

bookkeeping.

Add $25 to the NMI Worksheet.

Calculate percentages on green “Guidelines & Actual Budget” Worksheet

Line 9 from NMI worksheet

becomes Line 1 on Guidelines &

Actual Budget worksheet.

Students complete Steps 1 and 2

by calculating percentages to

nearest dollar amount.

The Big Search

Come into the Park Make sure students have the following items:

• Student checklist

• Debit card with life situation sticker

• Pencil

Student Checklist

Print Option Sheets from these businesses.

Collect Option Sheets from these businesses.

Total Amount to be Paid - must be less than NMI.

Balance must be a zero or positive dollar amount.

The Final Commitment

Each student makes all of the payments for his/her successfully planned budget.

Closing Activities Students clean classroom area. Collect calculators. Ensure all materials are back in the kits. Students place all paperwork in student folders to take back to

school. Students remain in classroom area until debriefing in the Park.
