As we enter this beautiful time of year, the air is crisp and the leaves are changing colors and I get excited! The children are getting excited as well! It is a busy, yet fun time in the children’s department and we are doing many things. The hayride/bonfire has been rescheduled for November 3 at 6pm and that is always a great family time. We are working hard on the Christmas play and looking forward to sharing that with you in December. Practices
have begun so be sure to join us on Sunday and Wednesday evenings. Sunday School is in full force and they are learning great lessons during that time – it starts at 9:45am so don’t miss it. Be sure to stop by and see the “new” children’s department as we have done many updates . . . fresh paint, cleaned floors, and new rugs. The children are so proud of it and we are very grateful for the efforts of MANY that have made this happen!

WMU PROJECT FOR NOVEMBER: Christmas cards for the inmates of Harnett Correctional Center. We need cards that depict the true meaning of Christmas: who Jesus is and why He was born. Make sure the cards have religious pictures and a message of Christ. This may be the only witness that they will receive. Two thirds of the cards should be unsigned; one third signed with the name of Angier Baptist Church. Do not seal the envelopes and put the card in the flap of the envelope. These are due by November 13. There will be a box near the back sanctuary door to collect these cards.
Thanks so much for the bounty of school supplies. They were distributed to local schools!

US FOR THEM: LOVING OTHERS
Don't you just love a little friendly competition? There's something about being a part of a team that makes you excited to root for "us" and root against "them." With people and with God, we're often quick to see others like our enemies, but God invites us to see things differently. In November’s series, we'll explore the stories of Abraham, Jeremiah, Jonah, Isaiah, and more, as we see how the big story of Scripture reveals that God is for us and we're called to be for others.
We invite Youth to join us in the Youth Room for dinners on Wednesday Nights at 6:30pm.
Each month we strive to have a fellowship night and a mission project. Here are a few special things coming up in our ministry this November . . .
NOVEMBER 8: 5TH QUARTER Following the Harnett Central vs. Triton Game, we will go to Crossroads Church in Lillington (approx. 9:30pm-midnight). There will be about 10 churches coming together for games, food, and fellowship. There will be a message, tournaments, and door prizes. Everyone is welcome so feel free to bring a friend or ten! Signup on the youth board!
NOVEMBER 13: PACK SHOEBOXES The youth will pack any extra shoeboxes that were sponsored and not yet completed for Operation Christmas Child.
NOVEMBER 17: FAMILY GAME NIGHT ~ PARENTS VS TEENS A little competition never hurt anyone! Who will win this first ever family showdown?! Come out and put your knowledge to the test in this fun night of parents vs. teens.
NOVEMBER 27: THANKSGIVING COMMUNITY MEAL @ DEPOT Interested in helping feed families for Thanksgiving? Want to cook a dish, setup, serve, or clean? Contact Allison to signup for this meaningful night of service and giving back. We are blessed to bless again!

Being Thankful
“And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.” ~ Colossians 3:17 Welcome to November! What a wonderful month. The leaves are changing, the weather is crisp, and we get to celebrate Thanksgiving!
I’m sure we all have unique memories of Thanksgiving from our childhood. In the Allen house, we always spent Thanksgiving Day with my Dad’s parents. We would eat our Thanksgiving meal at lunch. My Papa would tell stories and jokes while we ate. After the meal he would say it’s time to go be thankful which meant it was time to go watch the Dallas Cowboys play and take a nap!
I’m so grateful for my memories of Thanksgiving. But the longer I live, the more I realize that Thanksgiving isn’t something to merely reminisce about or celebrate on the last Thursday in November. It’s something we need to live out on a daily basis.
God calls us to Thanksgiving as a way of life. Colossians 3:17 tells us to be thankful in everything we say and do. We need to live a thankful life. Now that doesn’t mean we have to be happy with everything that happens. We all know life is full of ups and downs and God doesn’t expect us to be excited when we’re faced with disappointment or hardship. But, I do believe there’s something to be thankful for in every situation.
We can be thankful for our family and friends. We can be thankful for God’s creation. We can be thankful for the physical blessings that we have in life: shelter, food, clothing. We can be thankful for the health that we still have. But above all else we can be thankful that God is with us. How do we know that? Because Jesus told us.
28 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” ~ Matthew 11:28-30
And Matthew closes his Gospel with these words: “And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” ~ Matthew 28:20
This November I invite you to let “Thanksgiving” be your way of life. Appreciate the people around you, the blessings around you, and most of all the presence of God in your life. In Christ,
