45th Annual Sedro-Woolley Rotary Foundation Auction

Welcome to our 45th Annual Auction, “Northern Lights-Celebrating Our

Rotary Stars!” We are recognizing the legacy the Rotary Club of Sedro-

Woolley has had on the community by featuring members that shine bright-

ly on us. You will see the many faces of our “Rotary Stars,” past and pre-

sent during the silent auction power point. Get caught up in the bright col-

ors of the Aurora Borealis, or Northern Lights as you raise your bid cards

high and often! When you win a live auction item, a colorful star balloon

will be tied to your chair! Your donations will help us to continue to shine

brightly throughout the Skagit Valley and the world at large.

The Sedro-Woolley Rotary Club gets things done. This past year we donat-

ed funds to the Brigid Collins Capital Campaign and the Sedro-Woolley

High School Marching Band Uniform Fund. We also committed $125,000

to the brand new YMCA that will be made over a five year time frame.

This past April 22nd, we saw an eagle soar above our heads as we dedicated

“Nathan’s Boulder,” a climbing rock at Cascade Middle School honoring

the memory of Nathan Nakis, a young soldier killed in Iraq. Our Club got

the job done through our Special Projects Committee and money raised

from past auctions. Climbing enthusiasts will enjoy Nathan’s Boulder for

    many years.

Our Club also supported many other activities and programs throughout the

county and world, including multiple scholarships, Micro Loan Project in

Nigeria, a Peru project, money to finish the eradication of Polio, third grade

    dictionary project and many others.

I want to thank all of our donors and sponsors of this auction. We have an

amazing assortment of items to bid on, some you won’t find anywhere else.

So please, sit back, raise that paddle and most of all have FUN. Thank you

for your continued support of our Club.

    Sincerely In Rotary,

    David Bricka

    President 2016-17

1 WHEN A TOY IS A PIECE OF ART (OR A TOY)

The log truck is one of the symbols of Sedro-Woolley and the North Cascades and this item is a one of a kind piece of art that could be a toy. This is a completely handmade model log truck with moving parts and the tiniest details all there down to the tread on the wooden tires that turn. The truck is approximately 3 feet long and was the result of many hours of dedication and difficult work. This will look great on your mantel (unless the kids get it down) as everything on it moves just like a real log truck. Make sure that you take a look at it before the bidding starts because there is only one and unlikely to be duplicated.

20 HANDMADE KNIFE by Bruce Berglin

Chef Palmer Culinary Series Knife, the first collaborated series knife produced is being offered for this special event. Bruce Ber-glin collaborated with Chef Palmer (Oyster and Thistle Restaurant in LaConner) to produce the first ever "Chef Palmer Culinary Se-ries" kitchen knife. The design was influenced by both the knife maker and the chef. Before receiving the prestigious label, Chef Palmer personally tested the knife for one week in his commercial kitchen. Bruce Berglin produces less than ten knives per year and this knife bears him name and serial number 166 as well as the "Chef Palmer Culinary Series" label. Constructed from high carbon steel, this knife will last for generations. The brass guard, brass pins and red spacers accent the presentation grade burl desert iron-wood handle. The file work along the spine and the satin finish re-veal a simple elegance that only a true artist can achieve. This is another rare opportunity to acquire this conversation piece and turn your future cooking chores into an adventure. Every Bruce Berglin knife comes with free sharpening service and a lifetime guarantee.
