WELCOME
CONFESSION AND FORGIVENESS
P: Blessed be the ☩ holy Trinity,
the one who fashions us,
the one who heals us,
the one who reforms us again and again. Amen.
Let us confess our sin, calling for God's transforming power.
Silence for reflection and self-examination.
Source of all life, we confess that we have not allowed
your grace to set us free.
We fear that we are not good enough.
We hear your word of love freely given to us,
yet we expect others to earn it.
We turn the church inward,
rather than moving it outward.
Forgive us. Stir us.
Reform us to be a church powered by love,
willing to speak for what is right,
act for what is just,
and seek the healing of your whole creation.
Amen.
God hears our cry and sends the Spirit to change us
and to empower our lives in the world.
Our sins are forgiven,
☩ God’s love is unconditional,
and we are raised up as God’s people
who will always be made new,
in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen

THE GREETING
P: The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the communion
of the Holy Spirit be with you all. C: And also with you.
OPENING PRAYER LECTOR
Almighty God, gracious Lord, we thank you that your Holy Spirit renews the church in
every age. Pour out your Holy Spirit on your faithful people. Keep them steadfast in your
word, protect and comfort them in times of trial, defend them against all enemies of the
gospel, and bestow on the church your saving peace, through Jesus Christ, our Savior
and Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.

Genesis 12:1-7
Now the Lord said to Abram, “Go from your country and your kindred and
your father’s house to the land that I will show you. I will make of you a great
nation, and I will bless you, and make your name great, so that you will be a
blessing. I will bless those who bless you, and the one who curses you I will
curse; and in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.”
So Abram went, as the Lord had told him; and Lot went with him. Abram was
seventy-five years old when he departed from Haran. Abram took his wife
Sarai and his brother’s son Lot, and all the possessions that they had gath-
ered, and the persons whom they had acquired in Haran; and they set forth
to go to the land of Canaan. When they had come to the land of Canaan,
Abram passed through the land to the place at Shechem, to the oak of
Moreh. At that time the Canaanites were in the land. Then the Lord appeared
to Abram, and said, “To your offspring I will give this land.” So he built there an
altar to the Lord, who had appeared to him.
P: Holy wisdom, holy word. C: Thanks be to God

GOSPEL ACCLAMATION
“Alleluia, Alleluia”
THE GOSPEL
The holy gospel according to Mark, the 10th chapter. / C: Glory to you O Lord.
Matthew 28:16-20
Now the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain to which Jesus had di-
rected them. When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted. And
Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been giv-
en to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the
name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to
obey everything that I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you al-
ways, to the end of the age.”
P: This is the gospel of the Lord / C: Praise to you, O Christ.

THE HYMN OF THE DAY
“Will You Come and Follow Me”
11
P: We praise you O God, for Jesus Christ, who saves us from sin and from evil,
embodying forgiveness, granting us grace, setting us free
Who, on the night in which he was betrayed,
our Lord Jesus took bread, and gave thanks;
broke it, and gave it to his disciples, saying:
Take and eat; this is my body, given for you.
Do this for the remembrance of me.
Again, after supper, he took the cup, gave thanks,
and gave it for all to drink, saying:
This cup is the new covenant in my blood,
shed for you and for all people for the forgiveness of sin.
Do this for the remembrance of me.
Remembering his love for us on the way, at the table, and to the end,
we proclaim the mystery of faith:
C: Christ has died.
Christ is risen.
Christ will come again.
P: Come Holy Spirit: preserve what is faithful, reform what we treasure, create in
us what is vital and new. We honor you, now and forever.
C: Amen.
THE LORD’S PRAYER (please join hands with worshippers near you.)
C: Our Father who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name,
thy kingdom come, thy will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread;
and forgive us our sins
as we forgive those who sin against us;
and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom,
and the power, and the glory,
forever and ever. Amen.

HOLY COMMUNION
P: The Lord be with you. C: And also with you.
P: Lift up your hearts C: We lift them up to the Lord.
P: Let us give thanks to the Lord our God. C: It is right to give our thanks and praise.
P: It is indeed right, our duty and our joy,
that we should at all times and in all places
give thanks and praise to you, almighty and merciful God,
through our Savior Jesus Christ.
By the witness of your saints
you show us the hope of our calling,
and strengthen us to run the race set before us,
that we may delight in your mercy and rejoice with them in glory.
And so, with all the saints,
with the choirs of angels and all the hosts of heaven,
we praise your name and join their unending hymn :
“Holy, Holy”

PRAYER OF GOD’S PEOPLE
Lord, in Your mercy. / C: Hear our prayer.
Holy God, work in your church across denominational and cultural divisions
to form us into a more complete expression of your holy community. Show
the world your likeness through us. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.
Free us from the lies we tell ourselves or others in order to justify our words
and actions. Lead us to speak honestly and to listen humbly, and reveal your
truth among us. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.
Be a stronghold for people who are in danger this day. In your righteous
presence cause the evil that surrounds them to flee, and clothe them with
your mercy. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.
Continue making all things new. Seal your covenant with humankind, and
write your law on our hearts. Make repentance a regular habit for us so that
forgiveness abounds. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.
Silent prayers are offered
P: Into your hands we commend all for whom we pray, trusting in Your mer-
cy, in the name of Jesus our Savior. Amen
