ADMISSIONS IN THE FIRST YEAR (SECOND SEMESTER OF SESSION 2014-15) OF UG

GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS FOR COUNSELLING:

The eligible candidates satisfying following eligibility conditions are requested to

attend the counseling as per schedule mentioned hereunder:

1 She/he should be a student of BE/BTech programme of a recognised Institute/University and

have passed 10+2 or equivalent examination from recognized board and have secured at least 60%

(55% for SC/ST candidates) marks in aggregate of Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry/Computer

science/Biology/Biotechnology.

2 has qualified TU entrance test with at least 20% aggregate marks (15% for SC/ST candidates).

3 She/he should be a citizen of India.

4 She/he should bear a good character and satisfy the prescribed requirements of the University.

Date of Counselling:

Counselling for admission & deposit of fee : January 6, 2015

Commencement of classes : January 7, 2015

Schedule of Counselling:

All eligible reserved categories (SC/ST, Phy. Handicap) candidates : 9:30 AM

All eligible General Category candidates : 10:30 AM

Venue of Counselling: UNIVERSITY AUDITORIUM

Note: No separate letter for Counselling shall be issued.

Fee and other charges: Fee to be paid at the time of admission during Counselling:

Without Hostel: Rs. 1,13,400/-

With Hostel: Rs. 1,13,400/- + Room Rent +Other Dues as mentioned here under:

IMPORTANT NOTE: The existing Thapar University students, who will be

attending this counseling shall be required to deposit only those

documents (from the above mentioned list) which have not been

deposited by them earlier. In addition, they shall be required to show

the receipt of deposit fee of the second semester of session 2014-15

alongwith Rs. 8,000/- as admission fee to be deposited at the time of

counseling.

Admission Procedure:

Only those candidates shall be considered who shall apply on the prescribed application

form on or before the last date.

The admission shall be made on the basis of merit of entrance test to be conducted by

Thapar University.

Candidate is required to pay tuition fee and other dues at the time of admission.

There will be only one counselling.

Candidate leaving after taking admission shall be refunded Caution Money and alumni

fee only.

The number of seats available for admission shall be available on our website

www.thapar.edu w.e.f. October 15, 2014. 15% seats shall be reserved for SC, 7.5%

seats for ST category and 3% for physically handicapped category. In case, any seat in

reserved category remains vacant, the same shall be converted to the General Category.

Candidate should bring all the documents in original at the time of Counselling.

In case, a student of first year of Thapar University gets a seat under this scheme then

the seat vacated by such candidate shall be offered to other candidates in the merit list.

in Higher Educational Institutions, 2009, (hereinafter called the “Regulation”), carefully read and fully

understood the provisions contained in the said Regulations.

2. I have, in particular, perused clause 3 of the Regulations and am aware as to what constitutes

ragging.

3. I have also, in particular, perused clause 7 and clause 9.1 of the Regulations and am fully aware

of the penal and administration action that is liable to be taken against my ward in case he/she

is found guilty of or abetting ragging, actively or passively, or being part of a conspiracy to

promote ragging.

4. I hereby solemnly aver and undertake that :

1. My ward will not indulge in any behaviour or act that may be constituted as ragging under

clause 3 of the Regulations.

2. My ward will not participate in or abet or propagate through any act of commission or

omission that may be constituted as ragging under clause 3 of the Regulations.

5. I hereby affirm that, if found guilty of ragging, my ward is liable for punishment according to clause

9.1 of the Regulations, without prejudice to any other criminal action that may be taken against

my ward under any penal law or any law for the time being in force.

6. I hereby declare that my ward has not been expelled or debarred from admission in any institution

in the country on account of being found guilty of, abetting or being part of a conspiracy to

promote, ragging; and further affirm that, in case the declaration is found to be untrue, the

admission of my ward is liable to be cancelled.
