THE FSU DELTA OMEGA CHAPTER OF THE KAPPA KAPPA PSI HONORARY BAND FRATERNITY 2018-19 Highlights Repaired the conductor’s podium Performed music stand maintenance Provided ushers at Jazz Band Concerts Created and installed a Music Center banner Constructed slap sticks for the concert bands Repaired and inventoried percussion equipment Initiated the Lambda Class with 5 new members Provided ice cream social events to start off the year Hosted “Instrument Petting Zoos” over the course of the year Attended the Kappa Kappa Psi District Convention in Indianapolis Held fundraisers to help generate additional funding for band projects Volunteered at Dawg Days and other on-campus recruitment events for the bands Maintained Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram social media accounts for the chapter The College of Pharmacy Class of 1912, with Woodbridge Ferris, center Music for Life!” at FERRIS Music performance opportunities at Ferris State University are designed to supplement and enrich the lives of students by assisting them in making the transition from the high school musical setting to the world of adult amateur musical ensembles. FSU students can continue to develop their musical skills and be prepared for a rewarding musical “life after college” by participating in Ferris’ musical ensembles that include both university students and members of the community – the format of the majority of community ensembles throughout the country. In this way, we aspire to inspire all FSU students to continue to enrich their lives and the lives of others as active performers of music – for life! Weekly concerts are presented outdoors throughout the greater Big Rapids area, in support of local community activities and organizations, such as the Big Rapids Old Jail, the annual Spectrum Big Rapids Hospital Community Health Fair, the Canadian Lakes Association, and the Big Rapids Band Shell Summer Concert Series. This “Communiversity” Band is open to Ferris students, adults, high school students, and advanced middle school students. The band rehearses on Mondays from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the FSU Music Center. The 2019 Rehearsal Dates are: May 29, June 3, 10, 17, 24 and July 1. There is no fee to play in the Summer Band.
