5. Before you disassemble the trunk lock make amental note of how the tailpiece and spring fit onthe back of the plug.

14. The glove box lock cylinder plug contains four tumblers in positions 5 through 8.

17. With thescrew removedslide out thelock.

18. There is a “C”clip on the back ofthe unit that youmust remove to

pull the plug. Thecylinder is springloaded into the

lock housing, takenote of that whenyou take it apart.

19. There is small access hole forthe stop retainer tumbler. Pick the

lock to the LOCK position or use thekey if you have one and then depress

the retainer tumbler.

Instructions for programming transponder keys on transponderequipped models when no keys or only 1 key is available:

21. A tech devicecalled the “DART” isneeded forprogrammingtransponder keyswhen no keys areavailable. The DARTunit is available fromNational Auto LockService @ 650-757-0700.

1. Before you beginmake sure car’sbattery is at least 12volts. Don’t guess,use a volt meter onthe batteryterminals.2. You must have atleast one newChrysler transponderkey with the correctcuts already on it. Donot try the newChrysler transponderkey in the ignitionuntil the DART unitasks for it. Use amechanical key totest your cuts.3. You must have the4 digit PIN code forthis vehicle.

30. While the car’s computertries to communicate with theSKIM module, this screen willappear.

31. To program in a newtransponder key you can justadd a key or erase all keys.

32. The DART unit requires youenter this car’s PIN.

34. The DART unit will nowverify that you entered thecorrect number before it checkit with the number in the carscomputer.

35. If the pin was invalid youwould get this error screen. Ifyou enter the PIN wrong againthe car’s computer will shutdown for 1 hour.

36. If you correctly entered thePIN, the DART unit will promptyou to put in the new Chryslertransponder key and turn it tothe RUN position.

37. The DART unit confirms thateverything went fine and thenew key will work.

Instructions for programmingadditional keys when 2 alreadyprogrammed keys are present.1. You must have 2 alreadyprogrammed Sentry Keys.2. Cut the new key(s) to the correctcode or duplicate.3. Insert one of the 2 valid SentryKeys into the ignition lock and turnto the RUN position.4. After the ignition has been in theRUN position for approximately 5 seconds, but notmore than 15 seconds, turn the key to the off position.5. Remove the key and insert the second valid key andturn to the RUN position within 15 seconds. 6. Approximately 10 seconds after the second key isturned to the RUN position, the Theft Alarm Light willstart to flash, and a single chime tone will sound toindicate the system is in the “Customer Programming”mode.7. Within 60 seconds of entering the “CustomerProgramming” mode, turn the ignition switch to the offposition, remove the key.8. Insert the new key (un-programmed) and turn theignition lock to the RUN position.9. Approximately 10 seconds later, a single audiblechime tone will sound and the Theft Alarm Light willstop, wait 5 seconds and then turn off the ignition.10. The system will immediately return to normaloperation following the programming of the new key.11. To program an additional key into the system, youneed to go through this process all over again.If you don’t follow the above procedure precisely, you

will have to start over. The above procedure will notwork if 8 keys have already been programmed in.Making First Key:1998 Dodge/Chrysler/Plymouth domestic models willall switch over to a new code-series. The code seriesis M001-2618. The keyway will be the same except foran additional cut added to the existing key, nearestthe bow. The key will now have 8 cuts on it instead of7. A new ignition lock will be added. The doors, trunk,and compartment locks are not scheduled to change.Method #1. Check owner’s manual for code, written inby the dealer.Method #2. Use a tool called an ‘EZZ-Reader’ todetermine the cuts in the door for positions 2 through8. Next, progression the number 1 cut (bow cut) in theignition. You will then have all the cuts necessary for acomplete key.Method #3. You must remove a door or trunk cylinderand decode it. Once you have those seven cuts, thenyou can progression the 1 remaining cut in theignition. The missing cut needed for the ignition is thefirst one from the bow.

38. You will get another opportunityto program in more keys. That’s all

there is, you’re all done.
