Celebrating the spirit of women and philanthropy
The 19th Annual United Way Women United Breakfast
WelcomeUnited Way Women United harnesses the power of women to support meaningful change through philanthropy, advocacy and volunteerism to build a stronger Miami. Our members are connected to a global, growing force of 75,000+ women dedicated to creating a world of opportunity for everyone.
We welcome and thank all new members for making their gift via our breakfast. Last year, Women United raised $6.6 million to positively impact the South Florida community through public policy advocacy, efforts in financial stability training and empowering the next generation of women.
Soledad Picón Chair, 2019-2020 Women United Executive Committee
“Whether I am assembling custom Thanksgiving meal boxes for low-income families or moderating a panel for some of the most prominent women leaders in our community, I always remember these words, ‘Find your tribe. Love them hard.’ These words share my belief in the power of working together and giving back to inspire and change lives. Through Women United, I am able to share my passion for bettering our community with incredible women who share a vision of making our families and community the very best they could be.”
Josefina Farra Talone, M.D., Nelly Y. Farra and Nelly M. Farra Co-chairs, 2020 Women United Breakfast
“Our family has been involved with United Way for more than thirty years and it is truly an ideal organization to be involved with. We are very proud to be co-chairing the Women United Breakfast, now in its 19th year. I have attended many breakfasts and co-chairing the event with my two daughters is incredibly fulfilling. We hope you enjoy this multigenerational and inspiring event as much as we do.” ~ Nelly Y. Farra

. Women United For Our Future
Tomorrow’s future is today’s promise
Invest in our tomorrow. It all starts with you today.
Join the Women United For Our Future endowment fund and help transform the lives of women and girls throughout Miami-Dade for generations to come. To date, the fund has raised $160,000 to award in grants for various nonprofits supporting women and girls in the community.
Jayne Harris Abess, former United Way chair and board member emeritus, along with her daughter Ashley and daughter-in-law Taylor, made a generous lead matching gift of $100,000 over two years in order to launch this exciting initiative.
With a one-time investment of $10,000, you will become a member of the Women United For Our Future Class of 2020, inspiring other caring, powerful and passionate women philanthropists to do the same. The fund will secure much-needed funding for programs supporting the education, financial stability and health of all women and girls and provide them with the promise of a healthy and prosperous future.
For more information and/or to join Women United For Our Future, contact (305) 646-7037 or [email protected].

It all started with an ant. One of the smallest creatures inspired a classroom of preschoolers. That classroom inspired a fashion powerhouse. And with your help, we can continue to inspire young minds in our community.
Tibi has partnered with United Way of Miami-Dade to create an eco-friendly philanthropy tote influenced by the students at the United Way Center for Excellence in Early Education, which aims to bridge the education gap through powerful early learning experiences. All proceeds benefit United Way of Miami-Dade.
