First Announcement and CALL FOR PAPERS

THE 25th INTERNATIONALOFFSHORE CRANE & LIFTING

CONFERENCE

The Norwegian Society of Lifting Technology (NSLT) & The Offshore Mechanical Handling Equipment Committee (OMHEC) are proud to announce the call for papers and exhibitors/sponsors.

THE 25TH INTERNATIONAL OFFSHORE CRANE AND LIFTING CONFERENCEThis conference is seen as one of the most important meeting places for those in the global offshore crane and lifting industry who are involved in heavy lifting, oil & gas operations, decommissioning and in renewables & alternative energy. At the 24th conference in Stavanger in 2019, there were 19 nations represented with a total of 160 delegates participating.

THE VENUEThe Event Complex Aberdeen (TECA) is a brand new state-of-the-art conference and exhibition venue located next to the Aberdeen International Airport, offering first class conference and exhibition facilities for organisers and delegates to enjoy. Buses are running throughout the site to facilitate convenient access for delegates and exhibitors to and from the City Centre and Airport. In addition, there will walking and cycling routes, encouraging delegates to walk from the close-by hotels.

EXHIBITION / SPONSORSHIPCompanies from the offshore and general lifting industry are welcome to use this excellent opportunity to exhibit and promote their products, services and new technology. In the past, exhibitors have included crane manufacturers, suppliers of offshore cranes and material handling equipment, service providers, training establishments, regulators and independent verification bodies. Companies are also invited to join as sponsors for social arrangements.

If you want to be an exhibitor / sponsor and have your company logo in the final program, please contact: Ole Lind Tufte, email: [email protected] Tel: +47 988 92 054

TOPICSSHARING BEST PRACTICE• Sharing best practice in lifting operations• The use of technology to enhance safety• Sharing the latest design practices

LEARNING FROM ACCIDENTS AND INCIDENTS• Presented by the involved companies• Dropped objects• Lifting operations in the drilling area• Complex lifting and rigging – portable equipment• Lifesaving equipment• Techniques used in accident investigations

NEW TECHNOLOGY• Digitalisation in the lifting industry• Offshore wind turbine installations • Lifting operations on support vessels, e.g. vessel to platform transfer using vessel cranes• Motion compensation• Autonomous cranes• Regenerative energy business• CO2 emission reduction (gas instead of diesel, or full electric cranes)

LIFTING OPERATIONS• Installation of offshore structures & machinery for alternative energy sources, such as offshore windfarms and wave energy using heavy lift vessels• The challenges with going “large” and increasing component lift weights• Decommissioning of offshore installations using onboard cranes or heavy lift/transportation vessels• Crane operators’ experience• New or innovative installation methods• Transfer of personnel from vessels to installations/vessels• Transfer of experience from the oil & gas industry to the renewables industry (and vice versa)

STANDARDS AND GUIDELINES• New standards and/or updates on changes to existing standards• The interpretation and application of regional and global standards, e.g. ISO, CEN, NORSOK, API• The need for new standards• Future needs, e.g. robotization, material handling towards support vessels

INSPECTIONS AND MAINTENANCE• Maintenance and inspection methods for lifting equipment• Different regimes for producing quality levels of inspection• Specialized maintenance within the drilling area• Lifting equipment in late-life-phase and/or with lifetime extension• New inspection methods, for example: - Use of drones - Monitoring

TRAINING AND HUMAN FACTORS• Cost reduction versus requirements for training and impact on safety• New methods; e.g. the development of simulators using virtual and augmented reality

ROPES AND LIFTING EQUIPMENT• The theoretical and practical aspects of ropes and their use• The practical care and maintenance of lifting ropes, steel, hybrid and fibre (including maintenance, inspection and discard criteria)• New technology such as composite ropes, fibre ropes and their application, etc.• The theoretical and practical aspects of lifting equipment (e.g. loose gear, special offshore lifting tools, etc.)• New types of lifting equipment.

TECHNICAL ORGANIZER:

We want to encourage everyone to suggest topics that are considered important for you and the community.
