1:30 p.m. – 2:15 p.m.A House Where Women and Children are Unsafe is NOT a Home Studies report that there are between 750,000 and 2.3 million victims of domestic violence each year. 3.3 to 10 million children a year are at risk for witnessing or being exposed to domestic violence. 903,000 children are identified each year by child protective services as victims of abuse or neglect. Family violence is a devastating social problem that affects every segment of the population. Most affected are women and children. This panel will discuss the overlap between domestic violence and child welfare and the challenges judges and practitioners face in cases involving family violence.
