Nonlinguistic Representation
Learners acquire and store knowledge in 2 primary ways:
1. Linguistic– by reading or hearing lectures
2. Nonlinguistic – visual imagery
• Visual representations help students recognize topics
• kinesthetic: movements
The more students use both systems of representing knowledge, the better they are able to think about and recall what they have learned.
(Marzano, Pickering, & Pollock,2001)
Nonlinguistic Representation is an imagery form of representation.
expressed as mental pictures & physical sensations
