What is the Industrialized Construction Forum?Founded in 2014 at the Center for Integrated Facilities Engineering (CIFE), the IndustrializedConstruction Forum at Stanford intends to become the premier annual event for industry knowledgeexchange among the growing community of Industrialized Construction experimenters, innovators, and startups in the Bay Area and across the globe. The term Industrialized Construction isintentionally broad to include emerging business models for off-site and prefab while lookingforward to the application of future technologies such as 3D printing and robotics.

The following themes have been of interest in recent and upcoming forums:• Conceptualizing the Building as a Product• Integrating the Supply Chain using Cloud-Based Platforms• Financing New Industrialized Construction Ventures & Startups• Using Industrialized Construction to Address the Housing Crisis• Using Industry 4.0 to Resist Downturns and Build Scalable Solutions

2018 Keynote Speaker – Professor Carol GalanteCarol Galante is the I. Donald Terner Distinguished Professor in AffordableHousing and Urban Policy and the Faculty Director of the Terner Center forHousing Innovation. She also co-chairs the Policy Advisory Board of theFisher Center of Real Estate and Urban Economics. As Faculty Director forthe Terner Center, Galante oversees the Center’s work and co-leads theCenter’s research agenda, supervising projects that identify, develop andadvance innovative solutions in local, state and federal housing policy andpractice. In her role as I. Donald Terner Distinguished Professor inAffordable Housing and Urban Policy, Professor Galante teaches graduatecourses on housing policy and community development, including asemester-long studio intensive course on the design and finance ofaffordable housing development.

Prior to coming to UC Berkeley, Galante served in the Obama Administration for over five years asthe Assistant Secretary for Housing/Federal Housing Commissioner at the U.S. Department ofHousing and Urban Development (HUD) and as the Deputy Assistant Secretary for MultifamilyHousing programs. As FHA Commissioner, Ms. Galante was responsible for the oversight of theFHA’s trillion dollar insurance portfolio, which includes single family and multifamily housing as wellas insured health care facilities. She was also responsible for HUD’s two million apartments withrental assistance. Prior to her appointment at HUD, Galante was President and Chief Executive ofBRIDGE Housing Corporation, the largest non-profit developer of affordable, mixed-income andmixed-use developments in California. Early in her career Galante also worked for local governmentin city planning and community economic development. Galante holds a Master of City Planningfrom U.C.
